Hello, Crafters.
Don’t forget the 24-hour FLASH SALE that’s on until 10.50 pm this evening for the UK (11.50 pm in Europe). There’s a long list of stamp sets that are available with a 15% discount! Check the LIST HERE. I was reading my Cardmaking & Papercraft magazine today when I saw this they are taken a photograph of one of my cards from Pinterest and shared it in their magazine! Shame they didn’t get my name quite right! LOL!
I have been putting off using the fabulous Toile Tidings Designer Series Paper (DSP) because I didn’t want to do an image that’s all Real Red (or all Garden Green). My thought for today’s card was to use two of the designs from the DSP – one top and one bottom – then with a large Christmas sentiment in Real Red (or Garden Green) as the image! I didn’t get very far with that idea because I pulled out the Lots of Cheer Stamp Set……………I have no idea why! LOL!
There are three images in this stamp set and none of them would suit just one colour; not in my mind anyway. I decided to paint the image without thinking about “just Real Red”! The colours I chose match the colours of the bells in our pack of Jingle Bells (149598), i.e. red, green and gold! I used Real Red, Call Me Clover and Gold Wink of Stella Glitter Pen. This was bought when Stampin’ Up! were selling it (just for one year I believe about three years ago?) I wish we still stocked it!
When I first started to put my card together, I decided I didn’t like the multi-coloured image with the Real Red Cardstock (CS) and Very Vanilla CS card base! I decided to go back to my original idea about the large sentiment in Real Red. As I was tidying up my desk to start again, I took another look at the multi-coloured image and decided to stick with it! What’s that saying?? I used to be indecisive but now I’m not so show! LOL!
I decided to add some ribbon and my first choice was the Very Vanilla Lace Trim, but thought it looked too delicate, and chose some Real Red ribbon which looks strong and vibrant. I also feel it pulls the card together, including the multi-coloured image. No surprises where the sentiment is from! LOL! It’s from Itty Bitty Christmas and has been stamped with Memento Ink on Very Vanilla CS, then punched out with the Classic Label Punch.
The gold on the wreath had a lot of glimmer because I’d used my Gold Wink of Stella Glitter pen. I decided to go over the red and green bells using my Clear Wink of Stella Pen – it looks amazing in real life! Instead of adding some Dazzling Diamond Glitter to the top half of the DSP, I painted it with my Clear Wink of Stella, so when the card is moved to see the glitter on the wreath, it also shows the glitter on the scenic DSP design!
I added a layer of Real Red CS, and then a layer of Very Vanilla CS inside the card, but I wasn’t sure how to decorate it. My first thought was to samp part of the wreath over the bottom right hand corner, but I though that may look too heavy. I decided the cut part of the scenic DSP to sit in the corner. Once I’d adhered it in place, I painted over it using my Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Pen. This has given me another idea using this DSP……………………..maybe tomorrow!!
That’s it from me today. If you have any stamp sets on your whishlist, don’t fprget to check whats available in the 24-hour FLASH SALE with a 15% discount. I look forward to being back with you tomorrow, and in the meantime, happy crafting.
