Hello, Crafters.
Yesterday felt like Saturday because Hubby had to work from home, so today I feel if I’ve gained an extra day! LOL! This week’s video is going to be a fancy-fold card, and yesterday I was learning how to make it as well as designing it. I often make my first attempt using cardstock in retired colours, but this card looked so easy I used all current products. I’m glad I did because it really was as easy as it looked!
The suite of products I used for the first card was the Most Wonderful Time Product Medley which is available on page 39 in the Christmas catalogue. The Medley includes seven sheets of self-adhesive stickers and I chose to use a tree and a reindeer. Using this suite prompted me to use it to make today’s card! I’ll be showing the video test card in the video tomorrow!
As well as the stickers, the Medley also has a pack of 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper, 12 gold foil card fronts, gold/white tinsel trim, self-adhesive faceted gold stars, a stamp set and matching dies. To create the sky part of my card, I took a two and a half inch tall piece of a the star gold foil card front, and sponged over it using a Dauber and Night of Navy Ink. Next I took a piece of Sparkle Glimmer paper to make up a card front, so it looked like snow.
I adhered the sky and the snow to a piece of Whisper White Cardstock (CS) that was the correct size for the middle layer, and adhered it to an Old Olive CS card base. Using the large tree stamp from the stamp set, I stamped two Old Olive CS trees and one Pear Pizzazz CS tree – all stamped tone on tone. Next I used Tombow to adhere the two Old Olive CS trees at slightly different heights, making sure they covered the join line between the sky and the snow.
Then I adhered the Pear Pizzazz CS tree using Dimensionals in front of the two Old Olive CS trees. I wanted to add two of the reindeer in front of the trees, and they needed to be on Dimensionals, otherwise they would have been standing behind the Pear Pizzazz CS tree! I cut the Dimensionals to the right sizes – including very thin for the legs – but I forgot to add Glue Dots to the Dimensionals! The Glue Dots make sure the Dimensionals will stick to Glimmer Paper! I’ll correct it later!
The Season’s Greeting sentiment is the third one I made when I was making my Thursday morning card, and is from Itty Bitty Christmas Stamp Set. I added it with Dimensionals to a self-adhesive banner from the stickers in the Medley! To adhere to the snow, I added Glue Dots! I painted some liquid glue randomly over the three trees and then sprinkled Ice Stampin’ Glitter all over the glue.
I used the star die from the Medley dies set and die cut four stars. I adhered one each to the three trees on the front but it didn’t look right so I removed two! To decorate the inside of the card I added a layer of Whisper White CS, and adhered another stamped Pear Pizzazz CS tree in the bottom right-hand corner. I decided not to add any glitter, but added one the of the stars instead!
That’s it from me today. I’ll be making tomorrow’s video today, uploading and editing, as well paying Sharon a visit to have my fortnightly manicure. No time for slacking! LOL! I hope you have a fabulous weekend, and I look forward to being back with you tomorrow. In the meantime, happy crafting.
