Hello, Crafters.
Yesterday I made video called New Trimmer Review. I think it was an easier way to show the new features rather than trying to write about them and struggling to find the right words to decribe what I’m saying. All in all, I’m thrilled with everything about the trimmer. I’m particularly impressed that the new trimmer will cut a 3/4″ strip of Designer Series Paper in half without problems, and I’m thrilled with the quality of the scorer! The Gold Foil didn’t score as nicely as I would have liked it to, but there had to be something I wasn’t 100% happy about!

The top scoreline was made by the old scorer and the bottom scoreline was made by the new scorer. The difference is amazing!

There is only about 1/8″ gap where there aren’t any measurements on the arm. Life will be so much easier!

In the centre, you can see the much narrower cutting track on the new trimmer. On either side of this groove, there are raised “bars” going down to the measurement bars. These act as stoppers when putting narrow Designer Series Paper (DSP) or Cardstock on the trimmer to be cut. In the video, I show how easy it is to cut a strip of 3/4″ wide DSP in half i.e. to create two 3/8″ wide strips! Absolutely brilliant!
To create today’s card I used the Christmas Countdown Stamp Set and the Itty Bitty Christmas Stamp Set for the sentiment! I started by stamping the image of the red cardinal sitting on the branch, and stamped it in Black Stazon on a piece of Whisper White Cardstock (CS). After colouring the bird with my Real Red Stampin’ Write Marker, I tried colouring the branch but made such a mess of it, I fussy cut the bird instead!Next I stamped the other branch and leaves image on to a piece of Whisper White CS using Black Stazon Ink. I always find it a challenge to colour images that are largely black ink, but this image was easy. I painted the four large leaves in Garden Green first, and then I painted the berries in Seaside Spray Ink. On the pine boughs, I used my Stampin’ Write Garden Green, and roughly coloured along the main stems and then flicked my marker in the same directions as the pine needles.
I die-cut the image using a Stitched Shape Oval Die, and layered it on to a Real Red CS scalloped oval. I popped the cardinal on a Dimensional and sat him on one of the large leaves. The sentiment I used is from Itty Bitty Christmas Stamp Set, and I stamped it in Stazon on a scrap of Whisper White CS. I die-cut it using one of the Stitched Rectangle Dies.
Using my beautiful new trimmer I cut a Real Red CS layer for the sentiment and adhered the two together. To put my card together I started with a Whisper White CS card base. Next I took a Real Red CS layer and a Whisper White CS layer, but before I adhered them together, I embossed the Whisper White layer using the Basket Weave 3D Embossing Folder. Then I adhered it to the Real Red layer. I took some retired Real Red Ribbon and adhered a small strip around the two layers and fastened both ends at the back.
When I had adhered these layers to the card base, I added the image and the sentiment with Dimensionals. To add some bling to my card I added two of the smallest Real Red Toile Tidings Glitter Enamel Dots between the top and bottom lines of the sentiment. I added a layer each of Real Red CS and Whisper White CS inside the card, and decorated the bottom right-hand corner, with part of the image used on the front of the card.
I used regular Scotch Tape to cover the parts of the stamp I didn’t want stamped, and inked my stamp in Black Stazon. I quickly removed the tape and stamped the image. I gave it a few minutes for the ink to dry, and then I painted it with the same colours that I used on the front of my card.
That’s about it from me today. I look forward to being back with you tomorrow, and in the meantime, have a fabulous Friday. Happy crafting,
JanB. xx

Hi Jan
Just saw your video on the new trimmer and its great I will be purchasing one . I use both metric and inches as I am used to both pending on card size I am making. It is a shame they didn’t put the inch down side of ruler , having to buy another piece to add later on and change all the time will be a pain. I think more thought could have gone into it and had people like yourself to help with design because we know what changes needed to be done what works and what doesn’t. Great to have you back on board after your holiday.

Hi, Carmen. Many thanks for the welcome back. I love travelling, but I love being back home! North, south, east, and west, Home is where I love the best! ☺☺ I agree about the metric totally! SU should have had metric on one side of the bar and imperial on the other! I find it particularly odd that they didn’t do this, considering they combined both everywhere else! I did give this as my feedback, so I’m hoping where they say they are having discussions with the manufacturer, the discussion is to have both measurements on one bar. There is certainly the room for it! Here’s hoping! xxx
