Hello, Crafters.
I was convinced I had already made a video showing how to make a four-fold card, but I’ve been through all 502 videos, twice, and just cannot find it, so I’m assuming I haven’t made it before! It’s such an easy card to make for such a brilliant result. As I said in my blog yesterday, I’d been working with the Christmas Gleaming Stamp Set for today’s video, but I was struggling. When I went to bed on Friday, I decided to change to the Playful Penquins, and the Feels Like Frost Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP).
With that decision made it was plain sailing! No more struggling, and everything just fell into place! I made the Highland Heather & Purple Posy card first and I was really pleased with the result. To avoid making life difficult again, I decided to stay with the same design. I chose a different design from the Feels Like Frost DSP which meant changing my colour scheme to Night of Navy and Seaside Spray.
I made a mistake in the measurement of the second piece of Night of Navy Cardstock (CS). It means that the CS is slightly too big, but it’s easy to cut off the surplus. I have corrected the measurements in the box below the video as well as in the introduction just below the video. The size of the finished card fits comfortably into the regular Stampin’ Up! envelopes.
After I had finished the videoing, I had both cards sitting on the shelf in front of me, and I realised they both needed glitter! On the Night of Navy card I added Ice Stampin’ Glitter, and on the Highland Heather card I added Dazzling Diamonds. It never fails to amaze me how much glitter makes a card pop! On both cards, I painted all the scarves using my Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Pen.
That’s it from me to day. I hope you enjoy today’s video. I’m off to Church shortly. I wish you a very blessed Sunday and I look forward to being back with you tomorrow. In the meantime, happy crafting,
JanB. xx
These cards are absolutely gorgeous! Thank you so much for sharing them.
Many thanks, Cynthia. xx
I can’t find the measurements. Where do I look?
Christine
Hi, Christine. The measurements are in the box below the video. To access box you must be watching the video on YouTube. Deciding on which device you’re watching on, you either see SHOW MORE on the left-hand side below about three or four rows of writing, or you’ll see a down-arrow on the righ-hand side. I hope this helps. JanB. xx
Jan, that is a most beautiful card. I dont have that paper but I am sure my pension will stretch to purchase it for such a stunning card. XX Mal
Many thanks, Mal. Yes, of course it will stretch. It’s the only one you’ll need this year! LOL! xx
Jan, I have noticed in quite a few of your videos that you always look at your stylus and see what end you are going to use. Would you please explain to me what the two (2) different sized ends on the stylus are for. I recently purchased the SU scoring board and there were no instructions on what end of the stylus to use. (Today’s video in particular). I think I am becoming a little more confident in my crafting and starting to notice these things. Hugs and Thanks: Mal
Hi, Mal. I really don’t know if there’s a right way or not. I don’t like using the thick end, whether I’m on cardstock or Designer Series Paper (DSP). My reasoning is that you get a wider score line, which I don’t think is ever necessary, and it’s definitely a hindrance when you have to cut on scorelines! I can understand that it’s probably better to use the wide end on DSP to reduce the risk of tearing. But I prefer to add the warning “don’t press too hard because you are scoring paper and it will tear easily”. xx
Thanks Jan. Using the smaller end on cardstock and not getting the wider score line I think is a wise move. I see your point about cutting up the score line too. I have often heard you say, “don’t press too heavily” and always wondered what you meant, so now I do. Thank yo, as always, for being so giving especially as I can not be a client. XX Mal
Hi, Mal. Sharing is my pleasure! xxx
Sorry Jan, I am commenting as I watch this great video. It is GREAT to see that even you, a professional, can have oopsies. I am so glad that you do as that just reiterates to me that I am doing aok in my crafting learning curve. XX Mal (I promise no more comments!!!)
Hi, Mal. Oh, yes! I’m right up there with other Oopsie Queens! LOL! xx
Very very lovely card Jan. I so love the colors and the penguins are something else. They are adorable with the scarf. Will be making this card for sure shortly……Can’t wait for the trimmer to get in stock…..Gotta check with my US demonstrator. TYFS this gorgeous card with us.
Hi Jan
The 2 Penguin cards are gorgeous.
Hi, Carmen. I love images when they are more life-like than cartoons! xx
I love that you kept it real and let us see that you, too, have issue some days! Love this card and appreciate the video! I follow you daily and love your style of card making!
Many thanks, Tami. I think it’s important to show crafters that none of us are perfect, and how to recover from those oops moments. Many thanks for your support; it’s very much appreciated. xxx
