Hello, Crafters.
Yesterday Stampin’ Up! announced the Top Five performers for Sales, Recruiting, Leadership and Top Ten Overall Performers for the year ended 30th September 2019. I knew I would drop from the no. 7 position I held for overall in 2018 because I took my foot off the pedal so I could arrange our wedding. I don’t feel disappointed because I knew this would happen, and being a happily-married lady is priceless!
I was working on my card when the results came through and I lost my concentration! Fortunately, it’s only the inside of the card that’s been affected – just a tad! LOL! The design on the front was inspired by a card made by Debbie Henderson, a Stampin’ Up! demo in the US. I started with a Very Vanilla Cardstock (CS) card base, a layer of Garden Green CS and a top layer of Very Vanilla CS. The sentiment I stamped in the top right-hand corner is from the Perfectly Plaid Stamp Set.
To work out where to make the diagonal cut on the Toile Tidings Designer Series Paper (DSP) I lined up my top layer on my Grid Paper. Then I positioned the DSP to line up with the bottom of the Very Vanilla CS, and I counted down 7 squares, i.e. 1 3/4″ on the left-hand side of the DSP and made a pencil mark. Holding the CS and DSP steady, I counted down fourteen squares i.e. 3 1/2″, down on the right-hand side of the DSP, and made a pencil mark.
I used my l Trimmer to cut diagonally from one pencil mark down to the other. Using Tombow I adhered the DSP on top of the Very Vanilla CS and embossed the entire layer using the Pinewood Planks Dynamic Embossing Folder. With hindsight, it would have been better to emboss the Very Vanilla layer only and then adhere to the DSP. Although some of the embossing is visible on the DSP, it’s very random and could be seen as damaged, but it isn’t serious enough to change it!
I die-cut the boughs using dies from the Beautiful Boughs Dies and adhered them along the top edge of the DSP. The berries are Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels (146924). The card front looked rather bland, so I adhered some Real Red and Golden Glitz gifts I’d stamped last week but didn’t use. The stamp was from the Most Wonderful Time Stamp Set. I added Red Rhinestones to two of the bows on the gifts!
I added a layer of Garden Green CS and a layer of Very Vanilla CS, inside the card, and added three more Golden Glitz and Real Red stamped gifts. This is where my concentration deserted me. I adhere a bough with some Red Foil berries in the top left-hand side. Either decoration would be fine on their own, but not both together! I’m sure whoever I send the card to won’t be anywhere near as critical of it as I am.
That’s it from me today. I hope you have a wonderful Wednesday and I look forward to being back with you tomorrow. In the meantime, happy crafting.
