Hello, Crafters.
I knew what I wanted to do for today’s card but I didn’t envisage it would turn out so dark! I’ve tried lightening the photographs by editing but it has resulted in some very un-real colours! At the moment I can’t think what I could have done differently, except not to have used the copper foil baubles from the Brightly Gleaming Foil Elements. Had I done that, it would have taken away my reason for making today’s card in the first place! LOL!
I die-cut the branches using the Beautiful Boughs Dies, which I seem to be using a lot recently! These dies are available with the matching stamp set called Peaceful Boughs as a bundle which saves 10% off the individual prices (see page 5 in the Christmas Catalogue). Using Tombow, I adhered the branches along the top of the Whisper White Cardstock (CS) layer. Then I cut off the overhanging branches, working from the back of the layer.
I put a strip of the Mossy Meadow Brightly Gleaming Designer Series Paper (DSP) across the lower part of the top layer in preparation for the sentiment. I wanted to punch or die-cut some circles that would fit behind the copper foil baubles exactly. For this, I needed a circle with a diameter of 7/8″! I checked through my punches, SU and non-SU, and didn’t find anything!
Next, I went through all my dies, and didn’t find anything in my current folders! I moved onto my retired folders, I struck lucky on the fifth folder (out of seven!)! The perfect circle was part of the Popcorn Box Thinlits Dies. I die-cut three circles in each of a Pretty Peacock and a Night of Navy design from the Brightly Gleaming DSP – I chose two designs that had copper foil in the designs! I think I should have used plain cardstock to make the baubles look brighter!
In the absence of any copper thread, I added linen thread to the baubles and adhered it at the back of the Whisper White CS layer, making sure the baubles were hanging at different levels. I chose the MERRY CHRISTMAS sentiment from the Perfectly Plaid Stamp Set. I wiped over a scrap of Whisper White CS and stamped the sentiment in Versamark. I dipped the cardstock in the Copper Embossing Powder, and heat set it.
I die-cut the sentiment using a Stitched Rectangle Die and adhered it to the lower half of the top layer over the Mossy Meadow DSP strip. Using Tombow, adhered the top layer on to a Mossy Meadow CS layer. Next, I adhered this to a Whisper White card base. I adhered a layer of Whisper White CS to a layer of Mossy Meadow CS, then I adhered them inside the card.
I adhered a bough in the bottom right-hand corner and added another bauble with a piece of Linen Thread. To finish off the front of my card, I added a copper Designer Element in the centre of each bauble. The sentiment looked as if it needed something, so I added a Star Designer Element just after the MERRY. No matter how much I looked at my finished card, I couldn’t come up with any ideas on how I could brighten it up – any suggestions?
That’s it from me today. I hope you have a super weekend. I look forward to being back with you tomorrow, and in the meantime, happy crafting!

This is such a beautiful card! I love it just the way it is but since you asked – maybe adding a little “sparkle” to the boughs…with something like shimmery crystal effects. Thank you for sharing this lovely card!
Many thanks, for your suggestion, Barb. I’ll give it a try! xx
Lovely card & looks great Jan. The colors match well together. TYFS
Many thanks, Claire. xx
