I have made a few cards using the Most Wonderful Time Product Medley, but never using the candy canes. Yesterday I decided to change this and see what I could come up with. My thought was to have two candy canes crossing each other in a circle with a Vellum Cardstock (CS) circle underneath. Although I don’t use it often, I really like the effect the Starbust Punch gives.
I die-cut an Old Olive CS straight-cut circle, and a Vellum CS Starburst circle. When I held the two together and rested it on the Designer Series Paper (DSP), it wasn’t easy to see that the layer was Vellum; in fact it wasn’t easy to to see any layer underneath! I punched two more Vellum CS Starburst circles and layered the three together with the Old Olive CS circle on top. This made the vellum very easy to see!
I started with a card base in Old Olive CS, then a layer of Whisper White CS and a top layer of the red and green candy cane design from the Most Wonderful Time DSP. Before I adhered the three together, I dry-embossed the Whisper White CS layer using the Subtles Dynamic Embossing Folder. I decided to use Dimensionals to pop the image up in the top right-hand corner.
I used one of the sentiments from the Most Wonderful Time Stamp Set, and stamped it in Old Olive Ink onto one of the self-adhesive pre-printed banners. If you want to pop a self-adhesive image up on Dimensionals, one way is to cover as much of the sticky areas using strips of Dimensionals from the edge of the sheets. Another way is to dust over the entire sticky area using the Embossing Buddy, and then use Dimensionals where necessary. I used the first way.
To finish off the front of the card I painted all the small candy canes on the DSP that don’t have any gold foil in them, using my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen. Unfortunately it can’t be seen because there’s too much shine from the gold foiling. Next I painted the two large candy canes with my Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Pen and added three gold stars from the Most Wonderful Time Product Medley, and finally I added two gold stars to the sentiment banner.
To decorate the inside of the card I added a layer of Whisper White CS to a top layer of Old Olive CS, and then I aded them to the card base. I couldn’t think of anything to decorate the top layer with so I chose to use two Candy Canes, identical to the two on the front of the card. I finished them off by painting them with my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen.
That’s about it from me for today. I hope you have a fabulous Friday, and I look forward to being back with you tomorrow, In the meantime, happy crafting.
