Hello, Crafters.
Yesterday was an amazingly busy day for because my order arrived with my free products for my November customers. I can normally get my customer’s happy mail sorted and in the post within a day. November was an absolutely phenominal month for me, and I wasn’t able to get everthing done yesterday. Today my first job is to secure all the packages, and get them in the post!
I didn’t allow myself enough time to make a card for today, so I decided to go on Pinterest and pick a card to CASE. Today’s card was inspired by a card made by Brian King, who is one of the top US demonstrators. Although I’ve stuck to Brian’s layout, my card looks tall and skinny in comparison to Brian’s card due to the difference between our cardstock, but I think they both look good in their own right.
I chose the Designer Series Paper (DSP) from Let It Snow, and this guided me to the colour of cardstock to use, i.e. Real Red and Coastal Cabana. I’ll keep a note of the cardstock (CS) I used for my individual layers because I like the overall layout. (Listed below my signature). I didn’t use any of the stamps from the Cup of Christmas Stamp Set, I just used the dies from the matching Cup of Cheer Dies.
The dies I used were for the red mug, the white strips on the mug, two plain white candy canes and two slatted red candy canes, two holly leaves, and three red berries. I also did holly and berries for inside the card. When I die-cut the holly leaves I added a piece of regular tape on the back to hold the cut centres in place. I stamped the sentiment from the Christmas Gleaming Stamp Set on a piece of Whisper White CS using Real Red Ink.
Using my large scissors I cut the sentiment out freehand, leaving a small white margin all around. Using Tombow, I adhered the two pieces of the candy canes together, as well as gluing the stripes onto the mug. I used Dimensionals to pop the mug up, and used Tombow to adhere the first candy cane into place. The second candy cane has been popped up on Dimensionals, and I popped up the left-hand leaf, and adhered the right hand leaf with Tombow.
To finish off the front of my card, I popped up the sentiment using Dimensionals. I know this is the third day in a row tht I’ve added gems, three in a vertical row, but I prefer this look to adhering three gems randomly over th front of my card. The gems I’ve used are Glitter Enamel Dots (146934) which are on page 178 in the annual catalogue. The four clours of gems are Coastal Cabana, Gorgeous Grape, Granny Apple Green and Melon Mambo.
To decorate the inside of my card I added a layer of Real Red CS, and then a layer of Whisper White CS. I adhered the die-cuts in the bottom left hand corner but I’m not happy with the arrangement. I think I will add a third leaf and possibly a couple more berries. If you’d like to check bBrian website his address is www.stampwithbrian.com. Many thanks for the inspiration Brian!
I know your probably asking yourself what does a box of Heroes Chocolates to do with cardmaking? Not a lot really but it is December and this is part of a new tradition I started four or five years ago! Every December I have a box of chocolates on the stool next to my front door, and I offer one to every courier or postman who knocks at my door with a delivery – a bit like an Advent Calendar for couriers! The reaction I get from couriers and postmen makes me look forward to doing this every year!
Yesterday evening, Hubby checked all the chocolates in my box of Heroes, and found ALL of them, except one, are gluten free! What a result! I may have to buy another box for my couriers! LOL. That’s about it for today. I look forward to being back with you tomoorow, and in the meantime, happy crafting.

Hi Jan what a lovely thought. Which one wasn’t gluten free? I have a friend who is coeliac and it would be handy to know. Btw loved the card.😊
Hi, Anita. They’ve introduced two new items and they are Crunchie Bits and Dinky Decker – it’s the Dinky Decker that isn’t gluten-free. You’ll also be interested to know that Roses and Quality Street are both gluten-free, too! Unfortunately, Celebrations isn’t gluten-free! I hope this helps! xx
I love the colors on this one Jan. What a wonderful gesture to do that for your carriers. TYFS
Morning Jan. A very striking card – the layers just add something special. XX Mal
Many thanks, Mal. I’m really pleased you like it! xx
