Hello, Crafters.
As promised, today’s video shows how I made the Barn Door Card I shared on my blog yesterday. I finished yesterday’s card off first by adding a sentiment. I chose the MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR stamp from the Itty Bitty Christmas Stamp Set. Using the Delicata Copper Ink, I stamped the sentiment on a scrap of Whisper White Cardstock (CS) and die cut it with the no. 1 regular Rectangle Stitched Die.
The hardest part of making the video was finding some Designer Series Paper (DSP) that I had enough of to make the card; I knew I didn’t have enough scraps of the Brightly Gleaming DSP. I was really pleased when I found the Feels Like Frost DSP works with this design beautifully! As always, I made my second card immediately before I made the video to remind me of anything I needed to pass on during my video.
For my second card, I used Gorgeous Grape and Highland Heather with a purpley coloured design from the Feels Like Frost DSP. I was really pleased how the colours and designs all worked out together. Instead of using the Subtle Embossing Folder, which I’d used on my first card, I decided to use the Scripty 3D Embossing Folder. On this card I also popped the sentiment up on Dimensionals!
For the video card, I decided to use more or less the same colour scheme that I’d used for card number two. The only real change I made was to use Grey Granite instead of Highland Heather. The one change that did make a big difference was my choice of design from the DSP. It was a much lighter overall colour that changed the general appearance of the video card quite dramatically! I’m not sure that I have a favourite out of all the three cards!
One of the colours recommended by Stampin’ Up! for the Feels Like Frost DSP is Smokey Slate, but I thought Grey Granite looked better with the design I chose. I feel Grey Granite has a slightly warmer look because it looks like a browny grey. I’m still uncertain what I want to do inside my video card and I’m certainly open to suggestions! The inside is still blank, so please let me know what you think!
That’s it from me today. I wishe you a very blessed Sunday and I look forward to being back with you tomorrow. In the meatime, Happy crafting.
