Hello, Crafters.
I wish you all a very healthy, happy and creative New Year.
I don’t normally make New Year’s resolutions unless I’m reasonably confident I can stick to them! This year I’m going to get my time management board set up with all my morning, daily, weekly, monthly, work schedule! Yesterday morning I did the top line which has two sections i.e. At Start Of Day and At End Of Day, and sectioned it off using the Stampin’ Up! Washi Tape. Now I’ve told you about it, I’m in with a good chance of succeeding! Please hold me to account!
Today’s card would make a lovely birthday card, Mother’s Day card or a get well card. I chose to use Thank You because I need some for a customer but I may make another one for a birthday I have coming up this month. I know the lady in question would love this! Since I made the Quad Easel Card I’m very much into making my Designer Series Paper (DSP) work for me. Given the beautiful designs Stampin’ Up! give us, it isn’t difficult!
When I first decided to make this card my plan was to have Petal Pink Cardstock (CS) as a narrow band running along the base of the card, under the DSP. I didn’t like the idea of using a whole layer of CS just to have a narrow band showing, so I thought I’d cut a narrow band and dry emboss it. Then I decided to use a strip of Petal Pink DSP and struck really lucky because the reverse side of my black magnolia design is the Pink Petal stripe-design!
It couldn’t be easier! All I needed to do was to cut a piece of DSP to the measurement of my regular top layer, and then cut an inch off the bottom and turn it around! No messing about making sure the two pieces would fit! I used Tombow to adhere the stripe-design to the lower half of my Whisper White CS layer. It was a piece of cake adhering the top piece of DSP to the Whisper White CS layer so it lined up with the stripe-design!
I was going to use the Petal Pink 5/8″ Organdy Striped Ribbon to tie around my card layers, but I’m trying to use up the retired Petal Pink/Whisper White 5/8″ Variegated Ribbon. I chose the THANK YOU sentiment from the A Big Thank You Stamp Set and stamped it in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink onto a piece of Petal Pink CS. It was too small for the width of the ribbon so I adhered it to a piece of Whisper White CS I’d die-cut using the no. 2 oval die from the Stitched Shapes Dies.
Inside the card, I adhered a layer of Whisper White CS and a top layer of Petal Pink Cardstock. I think I may go back and decorate the four corners as I did with yesterday’s card. To complete the front of my card I painted the magnolias with my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen. I don’t know what I did differently but I have been successful in catching the glitter in a couple of the photographs! See photographs 2, 3, 4
The flower that I added by the sentiment is from the Frosted Flower Embellishments (148782) on page 177 in the Annual Catalogue. The pack contains twelve in each of Petal Pink, Maroon and Clear. I put a tiny drop of Tombow inside the flower and put a small Basic Rhinestone Jewel in the centre and pushed it down firmly in the centre.
On my blog yesterday I said I was going to change the sentiment on the Perennial Essence card I shared! Although I didn’t use the sentiment I said I would – it turned out that it was too big – I did stamp the same THANK YOU as I used for today’s card on a piece of Balmy Blue CS using Blackberry Bliss Ink. As I had my Wink of Stella Pen out, I decided to paint the branches! Can you see it in the photograph above?
That’s it from me today. I hope you have a great New Year’s day, and I shall look forward to being back with you tomorrow. In the meantime, happy crafting!
JanB. xx
NOTE: the ribbon listed below is the current Petal Pink Ribbon – I used retired ribbon on my card!

So pretty Jan. Especially love how that ribbon matches the card as well. Beautiful. TYFS
Many thanks, Claire. Unfortunately, I can never use a whole roll of ribbon before it retires; so I do use retired ribbons! xx
