Hello, Crafters.
I didn’t recognise the plant featured in the Beautifully Braided Stamp Set, except to say I thought the leaves look like Chinese mushrooms! There was only one thing to do and that was to look on Google but I didn’t know where to start! Hubby to my rescue! I took his advice and typed in Oriental leaf plant and it brought up Gingko Leaf! After clicking on MORE IMAGES I checked out different varieties, and my favourite was the Gingko Biloba, Maiden Hair Tree in autumn colours!
It was so easy replicating the colours shown on Google by using my Light Granny Apple Green and Light Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends. This is the first time I’ve used different colours of Blends and was really pleased with how easy it was to blend them together. I’m not sure what the bobbles on the stem are – I assume they’re buds of new leaves. If I’m right, my autumnal colours are wrong and if this is the case, I’m claiming artistic license! LOL!
I decided to use a card base in Granny Apple Green Cardstock (CS), then a layer of Whisper White CS and a top layer of Granny Apple Green CS. In my box, I found one that been embossed with the Mosaic 3D Embossing Folder so I decided to use it. I stamped the image using Memento Ink on a piece of Whisper White CS and coloured it as described above. Initially, I coloured the bobbles in Granny Apple Green, but changed my mind and added Gold Pearls on top of them instead.
After I had die-cut the image using the Stitched Rectangle Dies – no. 6 of the regular shape – I adhered it to the card front using Tombow. I chose to make this a thank you card because I think it’s rather bland for a birthday card or a get well card! The THANK YOU stamp is from A BIG THANK YOU Stamp Set. I went through all my dies to find something different to die-cut the sentiment and found a beautiful die in the Stitched So Sweetly Dies!
To give the card some dimension I adhered the sentiment using Dimensionals. My next addition was the small bow which I made with the ¼” Gold Shimmer Ribbon that was available in the Christmas Catalogue. The final touch for the front of the card was painting all the leaves with the Clear Wink of Stellar Glitter Pen. As usual, it has been extremely difficult the get a photograph of the sparkle!
For the inside of the card, I took a piece of Whisper White CS that measured 3 7/8″ x 5½” (North America: 4” x 5¼”) and stamped part of the uppermost section of the Gingko Biloba leaves in the bottom right-hand corner. After I’d coloured the leaves in the same way as those on the front of the card, I adhered the layer inside my card using Tombow. My final touch was painting the flowers with my Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Pen.
That’s about it from me today. I hope you have a terrific Thursday and I look forward to being back with you tomorrow. In the meantime, happy crafting!

Beautiful card Jan. Would love to see how you coloured it. I am Yet to get past very basic colouring . Gingko is for memory. …. i need to take it….. xx mal
Many thanks, Mal. I didn’t know that about gingko! I need it too! This was colouring at it’s very basic! Use the Light Granny Apple Green Stampin’ blend and colour about a third of the leaf, and fill in the rest with the Light Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blend making sure you go over the outside edges of the Granny Apple Green. And that’s it, job done! xx
Oh Jan, you make it sound so easy regarding colouring!!! I just dont have that craftiness in me – I am a copy artist, not a crafter, but heavens, I try. Blessings and Hugs: M
I hear where you’re coming from, Mal. No promises but I will try and incorporate colouring Gingko – or something similar – in a video. I’m very much like you, a visual learner! xx
Thanks Jan. XX M
