Hello, Crafters.
I love today’s card but I wished I’d chosen a different colour because there are too many similarities between this card and the Last A Lifetime card I posted two days ago! This was my first play with the Sale-a-bration (SAB) Happy Birthday To You Stamp Set. I have to confess, when I first saw this stamp set I said I thought the cake was over the top for a birthday cake! I think it’s far more suitable for a wedding or an engagement cake!
I loved colouring the image using my Stampin’ Blends. The colours I used are as follows: cake – Light Crumb Cake; cake stand – Light Smokey Slate; leaves – Light & Dark Mossy Meadow; flower centres – Dark Daffodil Delight; flowers – Light & Dark Rich Razzleberry; lighting around image – Light Pool Party. I die-cut the image using the number 5 die in the Stitched So Sweetly Dies.
I think this set of dies is the only set of layering dies that doesn’t need another layer to make it look complete. It may just be the way I’m viewing the die-cut, but to me, it’s almost like the scalloped edge is the extra layer; rather like tone on tone. I hope Stampin’ Up! have plans for bringing out more layering scalloped stitched dies in other shapes, e.g. circles, ovals, etc!
The card base is Rich Razzleberry Cardstock (CS), with a layer of Whisper White CS and then a top layer of the Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper (DSP). This is quite different from the combination I used for the Last a Lifetime card I shared two days ago; Whisper White CS card base, a layer of the Peaceful Poppies DSP and then the Whisper White CS image which was about 1/4″ smaller all round than a regular top layer.
Looking back, when I showed the Last a Lifetime to Hubby, he commented that the card felt very flimsy compared with my regular cards. Without really thinking about it I said it was because I’d used a layer of DSP instead of cardstock. I now see it’s because I’m missing one layer of cardstock as well as having used a sheet of DSP!
There wasn’t much room on today’s card for a sentiment, so I chose the HAPPY BIRTHDAY sentiment from the Itty Bitty Greetings Stamp Set. I punched it out using the Classic Label Punch. It’s very useful having this punch but it isn’t anywhere near as good as the Word Window Punch we used to have! It was that punch and the Modern Label Punch that first attracted me to Stampin’ Up!
Before I joined Stampin’ Up! I used to watch order tramadol next day delivery videos made by several North American Demos like Dawn Griffiths, Angie Juda, Frenchie, Lisa Curcio, and a few others and I kept seeing them using these two punches! I started looking into Stampin’ Up! and learned about the colour co-ordination and that was it, I was hooked! I joined in March 2012 and have never looked back!
Anyway, I digress! To finish the front of my card, I added three pearls in a horizontal line in the top left-hand corner of the image, and two smaller pearls on either side of the sentiment. Next, I took two strands of Whisper White Baker’s Twine and tied a double bow which I adhered to the cake stand. I tidied the tails of the bow up but still left them a bit long because with a double bow I like the look of the tails when they separate.
To decorate inside my card I could only add one layer which was Whisper White CS. I had one small Rich Razzleberry flower from the Last A Lifetime Stamp Set card I shared two day’s ago. If I’d had a bit more time, I would have made some more. I had lost the morning yesterday because I had to see my accountant so she could do my tax return for me. Here in the UK, we have to have our Self-Assessment Returns in by 31st January – failure to comply results in a fine!
The good thing is my tax return has been done so I can forget about it for a while! That’s about it from me today. I hope you have a great weekend and I look forward to seeing you tomorrow. In the meantime, happy crafting!

Many thanks, Mal. I didn’t think I’d be alone! It’s a lovely image and I enjoyed colouring it. The set should have been called Happy Wedding Day or something similar! xx
