Hello, Crafters.
Each day when I start planning a card for my blog I normally have something in mind or which direction I want to go in. Yesterday, all I knew was that I wanted to use a stamp set in the new Mini Catalogue that I haven’t used yet! I started having a look through my new Mini Catalogue because I have marked the stamp sets I’ve bought. Although the Last A Lifetime is full of meaningful sentiments, I decided I’d like to do something with the flowers!
I enjoy painting with Blends, so I chose my colour scheme from the Blends I have, and I stamped two images on Whisper White Cardstock (CS) using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. After I checked the mauve/purple colours I chose Rich Razzleberry, and had a look to see what Designer Series Paper (DSP) I had in this colour. Fortunately, I found this beautiful spotted design in the Peaceful Poppies DSP. At this point, I wasn’t planning to use it as a layer!
Other Blends I used for my images include Dark Daffodil Delight for the centres of the flowers, Light & Dark Mossy Meadow for the leaves, and Dark Purple Posy for the cotton ball flowers. The matching die set for this stamp set is called Lasting Elegance and includes a die for my image, as well as a die for a smaller flower image in the stamp set.I found a top Whisper White CS layer in my box that had already been embossed with the Coastal Weave 3D Embossing Folder. I cut it down to 3¼” x 4 7/8”, and then cut two pieces of the Rich Razzleberry DSP to my regular size of 3 7/8″ x 5½”. Next, I thought I’d use one image together with a sentiment, but when I went through all my stamp sets, I saw the birthday sentiment in the Beautiful Day Stamp Set that looked as if it would fit the top layer side to side.
After stamping the sentiment on a wide strip of Whisper White CS using Rich Razzleberry Ink, I die-cut it using the number 3 slim die from the Stitched Rectangle Dies. I was so pleased to see it fitted beautifully! My design then fell into place, with the sentiment in the centre and one image above it and the other one below. I made a card base in Whisper White CS, a layer of the Peaceful Poppies DSP and the embossed Whisper White CS for the top layer.
I adhered the sentiment and two images using Dimensionals. I added another DSP layer and a plain Whisper White CS layer inside the card. To decorate this top layer I stamped, coloured and die-cut the small flower image six times Three fitted beautifully across the top and three on the bottom. I didn’t notice it while I was working on my card, but I noticed that the top layers, inside and out, had a line of dots on the DSP on all four sides of the top layer! I couldn’t have planned it better!
To finish off my card I added three Basic Rhinestone Jewels on the front of the card, in the top right-hand corner. Next, I took two strands of Whisper White Baker’s Twine and tied it into a bow. I adhered it to the lower part of the sentiment on the left-hand side using a Glue Dot. I trimmed the tails of the bow, and kept them long so that the strands would separate to “advertise” that it is a double bow!
I’m very pleased with how this card came together; it has been a real pleasure working on it! That’s it from me today. I look forward to being back with you tomorrow, and in the meantime, happy crafting.
JanB. xx

Many thanks, Claire. I had no idea what I was going to do for yesterday’s card, so I’m very lucky it turned out well! xx
Jan, this is a really elegant card and I just adore the inside panel. I am not a spot person, but I really like this paper as it is quite striking in the cards overall design. XX M (Blue Mountains had another short rain cloud yday).
Many thanks, Mal. I was really pleased with how this card came together. I was amazed when I noticed I had a line of dots on all sides of the Whisper White top layer! Many thanks for keeping me updated about the Blue Mountains. I haven’t heard from her, so I assume my sister is fine! xx
Jan, they are expecting rain (perhaps drizzle but they say rain) over the weekend too. I am keeping your Family in my meditations. Blessings Mal
