Hello, Crafters.
Today’s card shows the best, although not the easiest, way to adhere vellum on cardstock! I took a regular middle layer Whisper White Cardstock (CS) and die cut the centre out using the no. 7 Rectangle Stitched Die. Then I took a piece of the Pool Party So Very Vellum Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP) which was slightly smaller than the Whisper White CS layer and adhered it to the back so it covered the opening.
It’s probably easiest to apply a small amount of Tombow all the way around the white edge on the reverse and adhere the Vellum on top, but you must be very careful not to get any Tombow where it can be seen! I used Tear & Tape which was fine on the two short sides but on the two long sides, I had to cut the Tear & Tape in half lengthways. It was a bit fiddly but I did it in two or three-inch lengths at a time which was manageable.
Next, I laid the layer face (front) down. I put the Whisper White CS stitched rectangle (that I had die-cut out of the layer) back in the position it was die-cut from, but with the vellum between it and the frame. Then I adhered it in position using Tear & Tape. When you look at it from the front you’ll still see the stitched line through the vellum. I adhered the layer on a Pool Party CS card base.
Using Memento Black Ink, I stamped the poppy-like flowers from the Bloom & Grow Stamp Set onto a piece of Whisper White CS. I coloured the flowers in Light and Dark Pool Party, with the centres in Dark Daffodil. to colour the leaves I used Light and Dark Granny Apple Green. Next, I die-cut the flowers using the matching die from the Budding Blooms Dies.
I chose the HAPPY BIRTHDAY sentiment from the Magnolia Blooms Stamp Set. Using Pool Party Ink I stamped it onto a piece of Whisper White CS and I used the die I consider to be the odd-one-out in the Rectangle Stitched Dies. Next, I adhered the die-cut poppy-like flowers and the sentiment in position using Dimensionals.
To decorate the inside of the card I took a layer of Whisper White CS and the long stamp of lots of poppies on stems. Using Memento Black Ink, I stamped the first half of the stamp on the right-hand side, and then the last half on the left-hand side. I coloured all the poppies using Light and Dark Pool Party Stampin’ Blends. Although the poppies are from a different stamp set, I think they blend in well because the flowers from Bloom & Grow look like poppies…………to me, anyway! LOL!
One of the final touches on the front of the card was to paint the flowers and the buds using my Clear Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Pen. The last addition was three Coastal Cabana Basic Rhinestone Jewels on the sentiment. I also painted the flowers inside the card using my Glitter Pen. I really like this So Very Vellum DSP which can be earned by a qualifying order during Sale-a-bration while stocks last and ends on 31st March 2020.
That’s it from me today. I look forward to being back with you tomorrow and in the meantime, happy crafting.

For this card, you said it wasn’t the easiest way to adhere vellum to cardstock…Not sure if you’ve ever seen this video and I have to admit I haven’t yet tried it…by Jackie Bolhuis, a SU Demonstrator. You can find her videos on Youtube. Klompenstampers.com Just thought I’d send this along to you in case you hadn’t heard of this tip. BTW, love the looks of this card.
Many thanks, Barbara. Yes, I have seen Jackie’s video and I like her idea about vellum inside the card; although it wasn’t adhered to the the card base. It was held in place by Baker’s Twine. Likewise, on the front of the card, the vellum was only adhered down under the sentiment. xx
Hi Jan, love this card, its beautiful. Not sure why you need 2X 1st layer, can you please explain. Hope this is not just me having a senior moment.
Cheers,
Denise
Many thanks, Denise. I think you’re referring to putting the rectangle that I die-cut from the top layer underneath the vellum? If I put the vellum directly nto the Pool Party Card Base the vellum comes up mauch darker which I didn’t like. Ilease let me know if I’ve misunderstood what you were saying. xx
