Flourishing Phrases Birthday Card

Uncategorized

27 Mar

Hello, Crafters.

Yesterday was a very busy day for me and also a very successful day! I finally made the video I should have published last week, and now have plenty of time to edit and schedule it to post on Sunday. The card is a brilliant fancy fold that was requested by a demo in Australia. By the time I’d finished the video and tidied up, I didn’t have much time to make a card for today!

I used the Flourishing Phrases Stamp Set to create this card in Crumb Cake and Gorgeous Grape. The flourish image is one of my all-time favourites for several reasons. I wouldn’t be surprised if I checked back on other cards I’ve made using it, I’ll find something very similar to today’s card! I stamped the image onto a top layer of Crumb Cake Cardstock (CS) using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.

I used the HIghland Heather Dark Stampin’ Blend for the flowers and the Light Call Me Clover Stampin’ Blend for the leaves. Using my white gel pen, I went round all the curved stems drawing white dots. I’m not sure what it is about this very simple technique but I love it! I added sparkle to the three flowers by painting over them with my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen.

To add interest to a flat card I embossed it using my Subtle Dynamic (3D) Embossing Folder. Using Memento Ink again I stamped the HAPPY BIRTHDAY sentiment which is from the Perennial Birthday Stamp Set, onto a scrap of Crumb Cake CS. After I die cut it using the no. 1 die from the regular Stitched Rectangle Dies, I adhered it onto the embossed layer which really made it pop!

I found a pack of four different coloured Baker’s Twine in my ribbon drawer which is called Nature’s Twine. The four colours are Rich Razzleberry, Crumb Cake, Grapefruit Grove and Mint Macaroon and I believe this is a retired product. The Rich Razzleberry was the ideal colour for my card so a took a length of it, folded it in half and made a double bow which I adhered in place with Tombow. I added some medium-sized Basic Rhinestone Jewels on each of the eight black dots – berries? – and one either side of the HAPPY. Inside the card, I adhered a layer of Gorgeous Grape CS and then a layer of Crumb Cake CS but I ran out of time and couldn’t decorate it! I have to close now but I look forward to having a much slower day today! Please take care and stay well! Happy crafting.

What a gorgeous card Jan. Love what you did with the white gel pen. I brings out the purple of the flower. Of course, I do like the purple and grey together. A good combination. TYFS & stay safe

I love the use of the white gel pen on your card. I’ll be CASEing this one for sure. The twine is still available in the USA but the description says Blackberry Bliss for the purple twine.
