Hello, Crafters.
Today’s card has been made using the fabulous So Very Vellum Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP) which is one of the new Sale-a-bration (SAB) gifts available in the second release. It comes in a pack of six 12″ x 12″ sheets, two each in Pool Party, Purple Posy and Soft Sea Foam. All the sheets have the same spotted design and feel the same good quality as our regular vellum cardstock.
The stamp set I used is another SAB gift called Happy Birthday To You. I bought the matching dies which are available as part of the Co-ordination Product Release. These products are available until 31st March 2020 while stocks last. I stamped the cake onto Whisper White Cardstock (CS) using Black Memento Ink. I coloured the flowers using Light and Dark Stampin’ Blends in Purple Posy, the leaves in Light Granny Apple Green, and the cakestand in Light and Dark Smokey Slate.
The centres of the flowers were painted in Dark Daffodil Delight and I went over the cake icing with my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen. The HAPPY BIRTHDAY sentiment is from the Piece of Cake Stamp Set and I stamped it on a piece of Whisper White CS using Basic Grey Ink. I didn’t want to have the sentiment punched out with the Classic Label Punch and started to look for something different!
I took a slim strip of Purple Posy CS and die-cut it into a slimmer strip using the strap die from the All Dressed Up Dies. Then I had the idea of die-cutting the sentiment using the same strap die and laying it on top. It took a few goes to get it right but my perseverance paid off! My final touch was to adhere the strip to a length of half-inch Scalloped Linen Ribbon in Purple Posy. It fitted on the ribbon beautifully so only the scalloped edge showed through, top and bottom!
I took a Purple Posy CS card base and adhered a layer of Whisper White CS to it. Then to adhere the So Very Vellum DSP onto the Whisper White CS I put a very small dot of Tombow in the largest of all the dots, and also on a fair-sized area where I knew I’d be adhering the cake. I added Dimensionals on the cake and adhered it in place and did the same with the sentiment strip. I finished the front of the card by adding a row of tiny pearls around the edge of the cakestand.
For the inside of the card, I added a layer of Whisper White CS and then a layer of Purple Posy CS. I stamped the cake image again concentrating on getting all the flowers but I didn’t need the cake or cakestand. After I had coloured all the flowers with the same colours as previously, I used the die from the set that was designed to die-cut just the three flowers as one image. I separated the single flower from the double flowers and adhered it in the bottom right-hand side.
I didn’t get round to decorate the insides of my two previous cards, but they are sitting here by the side of me so I shan’t forget them! It’s unlikely I’ll have them ready to share tomorrow, but they will be completed by the end of this week! Before I close for today, I thought you may like to see the Stampin’ Up! video on the Flowering Foils Specialty DSP that you can now earn with a qualifying order. This is the pack I used for the card I shared with you on Monday.
That’s it from me today. I look forward to being back with you tomorrow, and in the meantime, happy crafting.
JanB. xx
