Hello, Crafters.
There are less than three months before the new annual catalogue is launched so the time is right for me to make sure I use all my unused stamps! I can’t remember how many I had this time last year, but yesterday I had twenty, less Swirly Frames which I used for today’s card so that’s nineteen! My goal is to use two unused stamp sets a week! Confession! One of the nineteen was on the shelf this time last year! That must be a first! Hopefully, a last, too!
I really don’t know why I have overlooked the Swirly Frames Stamp Set because it still appeals to me as much as it did when I first saw it! When I starting thinking about a design for today’s card, my first thoughts were obviously to use the stamps as frames but I liked the idea of a partial wreath appealed to me. I bought two similar rings for our wedding last year but with a selection of off-white flowers and a selection of greenery.
I decided to use two Sale-a-bration gifts to create today’s card. They are the Small Bloom Punch and the matching Thoughtful Blooms Stamp Set. Two of the InColours which will be retiring in three months time are Lovely Lipstick and Call Me Clover., hence my colour choice for today’s card. I stamped several striped and solid flowers. After I had punched them out I curled all the petals upwards.
Using the leaf punch, I punched out about six images. Then I started experimenting with the flowers. I adhered two striped flowers together and then one striped on top of one solid flower. The latter looked best and so I made them all into double flowers with the solid at the bottom and the striped on top. Next, I played with different options for the leaves and finally, I added one complete set of three leaves to each of two flowers that I would put on the outside of the ring.
I finally decided to cut the leaves into individual leaves and put two next to each other on the third flower. Then I’d have the leaves facing outwards when added to the ring. The sentiment I chose was WISHING YOU A DELIGHTFUL BIRTHDAY from the Delightful Day Stamp Set, which is in the beginner’s catalogue. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve used this sentiment, it’s a great sentiment with the addition of confetti around it!
Using Basic Grey Ink I stamped the large circle from the Swirly Frames Stamp Set, and then stamped the sentiment in the middle of the circle, again using Basic Grey Ink. To colour the little bits of confetti, I used my Lovely Lipstick and Call Me Clover Stampin’ Write Marker Pens.
To finish off I wanted a bow and I had two Lovely Lipstick Ribbons to choose from! One was 1/2″ wide and the other one was 1/8″; one was too wide and the other was too narrow! LOL! I decided to go with the wider ribbon and made the bow as small as possible! Using my non-SU bow maker it was easy to make the bow small and to make the tails go sideways! Once I had adhered the bow in place, the sentiment suddenly looked too small! Grr! But it had to stay!
To finish off the front of my card I added a small Gold Faceted Gem in the centre of each flower. To build my card I took a Whisper White Cardstock (CS) card base, then a layer of Lovely Lipstick CS, and the top Whisper White image sheet. Inside the card, I added a Lovely Lipstick CS layer and a Whisper White CS. Needless to say, I had several double layer flowers leftover so I chose one that had two leaves attached and adhered it in the bottom right-hand corner.
I forgot to add a small Gold Glimmer Paper circle to the centre of the flower inside the card, but I’ll get it done sometime today! My first job for today is an appointment for my annual eye test which is about three months’ late! Better late than never! That’s it from me today, and I look forward to being back with you tomorrow. In the meantime, happy crafting.
