Hello, Crafters.
Last week when I was checking through my dies to see which ones would be suitable for the lacy doily on my dressing table card, I saw this circular die in the Painted Labels Dies. I haven’t used it before and I made a mental note to change that which is exactly what I did yesterday for today’s card! It wasn’t the most inspiring start I’ve ever had for a card but I have finished up with a card that I’m very pleased with!
When I look at the shape of the die I always think of a bird’s nest which wasn’t much help! Next, I thought about a wreath similar to two I bought to decorate the hotel dining room for our wedding breakfast last year, and which are now hanging in our conservatory! My first colour choice was Smokey Slate Cardstock (CS) but I changed to Crumb Cake CS when I realised it would match the ribbon!
I chose the Bloom & Grow Stamp Set because the images are in short lines of flowers and leaves, which I could curve because they’re photopolymer stamps! I was disappointed that they didn’t curve very much but I decided it was enough for my idea to work. After I had stamped the image using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, I coloured them using Stampin’ Blends in Light & Dark Highland Heather, Light & Dark Purple Posy, Dark Daffodil Delight and Dark Call Me Clover.
I took the Budding Blooms Die out of the folder and found the die wouldn’t fit my flowers!! DOH!! Of course not! I’d curved the image on my block! Ah, well, I picked up my Paper Snips and settled to do some fussy cutting! It wasn’t too difficult and I do find fussy cutting relaxing! Next, I needed a decent sized Get Well Soon sentiment and chose SENDING HEALING HUGS from the So Sentimental Stamp Set.
I die cut the sentiment using the Stitched Shapes Dies, circle no. 2. When I was working with the Dressed to Impress Stamp Set last week, I stamped, coloured and die-cut more flowers than I needed so I decided to add them to today’s card – fortunately, the flowers had been coloured with Purple Posy Blends. The leaves were in Light Call Me Clover but it was easy to change that to Dark!
As there was going to be a large area of white cardstock visible, I dry embossed it using the Scripty 3D Embossing Folder and adhered it to a layer of Purple Posy CS. I took a piece of the Scalloped Linen Ribbon in Purple Posy and adhered it around the front of the layers. Next, I adhered it to the Whisper White CS card base. I used Dimensionals to adhere to the wreath in position and adhered the sentiment using Tombow.
Next, I added the flowers with a combination of Dimensionals and Tombow. I also added two of the flowers from the Dressed to Impress Stamp Set. The card looked too heavy on the left-hand side and rather bare on the right-hand side. I added two more flowers from Dressed To Impress using Dimensionals. I also had a yellow butterfly from Butterfly Gala leftover from the Z-Fold Ornate Garden Birthday Card I’d made for my video Sunday week ago.
Inside the card, I added the middle layer in Purple Posy CS and the top layer in Whisper White CS. I had just one flower leftover and adhered it in the bottom right-hand corner after I’d painted over the Light Call Me Clover leaves to Dark Call Me Clover! My final touch was to add three Champagne Rhinestones on the butterfly’s back and three randomly on the sentiment.
What a blessing last week’s leftover flowers were in Purple Posy and the butterfly in Daffodil Delight – they blended in beautifully with the colours I had already chosen for today’s card! That’s it from me today. I hope you have a terrific Tuesday and I look forward to being back with you tomorrow. In the meantime stay safe and stay well!
