Hello, Crafters.
Today I’m sharing the second of three masculine cards I made using the Come Sail Away Designer Series Paper (DSP). I think it’s probably unusual to make a grey card using this pack of DSP. I had a quick look on Pinterest and found just one and it looked fabulous. There were quite a few that had also used red with the largely Night of Navy designs.
This card did entail quite a lot of fussy cutting which I know will put a lot of crafters off, but maybe you can think of an alternative. I started my card with a Smokey Slate Cardstock (CS) card base, a middle layer of Whisper White CS and a top layer of Come Sail Away DSP. I wasn’t sure how many images I needed and sat and fussy cut seven of them.
Using Smokey Slate Ink, I stamped the sentiment LET HOPE BE YOUR ANCHOR THROUGH THE STORMS OF LIFE, which is from the Sailing Home Stamp Set, onto a piece of Whisper White CS. If you want to avoid the fussy cutting you could choose a smaller die than the one I chose to cut the sentiment out. If this idea appeals to you more, you could leave a little bit of extra space to adhere one of the Sail Away Trinkets, instead of in the top left-hand corner.
I used die no 4 from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies to die-cut the sentiment. Before I adhered it to the card front, I adhered three strips of one-eighth of an inch wide strips of Smokey Slate CS across the front of the card. I positioned them so they would run under the sentiment which I would be popped up on Dimensionals. This addition makes a great alternative to adding ribbons.
Inside the card, I added a layer of Whisper White CS and decorated the bottom right-hand by adhering two of the fussy cut pieces from the DSP. To finish the front of the card I put some Night of Navy and Sahara Sand Baker’s Twine through the hole at the top of the anchor that comes in the Sail Away Trinkets. After I’d tied it in a bow, I adhered both in the top left-hand corner using Tombow Glue.
That’s about it from me today and I look forward to being back with you tomorrow. In the meantime, please take care and stay safe and well. Happy crafting.
