Hello, Crafters.
For the third Thursday in a row, at 8 pm nearly everyone in the UK went outside their houses and clapped their hands, banged saucepans, lit fireworks, as a show of appreciation to our wonderful NHS staff, and ALL frontline line workers, e.g. carers, shop workers, delivery drivers, post office workers, etc. Those of us who have to stay in our homes because of the lockdown are the lucky ones! We owe SO MUCH to our NHS workers, carers and frontline workers. If you’re one of them, in any country, a huge THANK YOU, and may God bless you and keep you safe! 💖
Yesterday I started working on my card for Sunday’s video and was planning to use the Best Dressed 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper (DSP). I didn’t get that far because, as you’ll see on Sunday, I had to work out so many measurements I eventually gave up! Today I’ll be able to start again with a fresh mind, content to know that my project does work! Hopefully, today I’ll be able to get the video made, uploaded and scheduled ready for Sunday!
You may remember when the Best Dressed Suite was first launched I said I wasn’t planning on buying it because it just isn’t me! I went on to say I’d get the dies because I liked the bag die – which I still haven’t used! – but not the stamp set! Then I ordered the stamp set instead of the dies! DOH! The long and the short of it is that I do have both and have grown to really like the set!
For today’s card, I cut a top layer of the DSP, a second layer of Whisper White Cardstock (CS) and adhered them together. I wrapped a piece of the Purple Posy Scalloped Linen Ribbon around these layers about ¾” up from the bottom. I used one of the dies from the Ornate Layers Dies to die-cut the mirror frame in Purple Posy CS. Next, I cut a piece of silver foil to fit in the mirror frame and adhered it in place using Tombow.
Using Memento Ink and Whisper White CS scraps I stamped three each of the two flower stamps in the Dressed to Impress Stamp Set I also stamped two perfume bottles. I also stamped the sentiment KINDNESS IS ALWAYS IN STYLE and then I die cut them with die from the matching All Dressed Up dies. I used Stampin’ Blends to colour the stamped images: flowers – Light Purple Posy, Daffodil Delight and Light Call Me Clover; perfume bottle – Light Petal Pink.
I adhered the layers onto a Purple Posy CS card base and adhered the mirror using Dimensionals. Next, I adhered the sentiment and the perfume bottle both with Dimensionals. After I had adhered the flowers, part Dimensional and part Tombow, I adhered three lilac enamel dots along the Linen Ribbon. I’m not sure where these came from except to say the must have retired a long ago! I suggest you use Basic Pearl Jewels and paint them with the Dark Purple Posy Stampin’ Blend.
Inside the card, I added a layer of Whisper White CS and a top layer of Purple Posy CS. Using Tombow I adhered the second perfume bottle together with a flower in the bottom right-hand corner of the top layer.
That’s it for today. I wish you a very blessed Easter and look forward to being back with you tomorrow. Please take care and stay safe.
JanB. xx
