Hello, Crafters.
I have been counting my blessings a lot during the pandemic because I’m a crafter and I’m never bored or scratching around for something to do. Probably like many of you, I craft, craft and craft some more! This started me thinking about non-crafters and the all-inclusive card kits we sell – they’re made for each other! All you need to supply are scissors and liquid glue like our Tombow for the Lots of Happy Kit – everything else is supplied in the kit! Later today at 21:00 (NL)/8:00 p.m. (UK), the Retiring Products List will be published and I wouldn’t be surprised to see this kit (and the other three I have videos for) on the list!
While many of us have already bought different card kits at one time or another, I decided to do something to promote our kits to non-crafters as a way to help them while away some time during the lockdown and help to alleviate some of their boredom. The majority of new and experienced crafters have the confidence to buy a kit, follow the instructions and make some great cards, but I’m not sure non-crafters would be as confident.
By way of giving them some encouragement and support I have made four videos where non-crafters – and new and experienced crafters if they’d like to join in too – can work along with me and learn the pleasure we all get from crafting! The first video I’m releasing is actually called kit 4 because it was the last video I made and is for the Lots of Happy Card Kit. I’m releasing this video at 21:00 (NL)/8:00 p.m. (UK)
I doubt if I have many, if any, non-crafters who follow my blog which is where you can help me and non-crafters! Do you know anyone who would benefit from one of these kits or someone who is really feeling the pressure of the lockdown and needs a lift? Maybe a member of your family, a friend or a neighbour? Unfortunately, I can only sell to residents in the UK, the Netherlands, France, Germany and Austria (Stampin’ Up! rules).
As a special promotion, I’m offering FREE DELIVERY for ALL my customers who order one of these kits between now and 30th April 2020. If you don’t already have a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator I would love to have you become one of my customers, thereby saving on the delivery. Please note that this offer is direct from me, and the refund will be processed by me as soon as I see your order go through.
The Lots of Happy video is 1 hour 42 minutes long and is a very relaxed “craft along with me” video which I have specifically aimed at non-crafters. As well as the Lots of Happy Kit, the other three kits I’ll be releasing videos for in the next few days are Three Cheers for You, Notes of Kindness and Looking Up. Again, they may be on the Retiring Products List! I will put links to all four kits below my signature and will include the French and German kits as well. Note: Notes of Kindness is suitable for English, French and German.
If you live outside the countries mentioned above, please feel free to share with your demonstrator. That’s it from me today. I look forward to being back with you tomorrow, and in the meantime, please stay home, stay safe and stay well! Happy crafting.
JanB. xx

I’m a paper crafter. I’m a gardener. I’m a reader. I’m a cook quite partial to doing chutneys and such. I am a home decorator. I am a miniaturist, even though that has gone down in priority. I have friends in many countries from long before e-mail, sms, facebook, whatsapp. I’m a traveller who now revels in photos of places I’ve been to. I’m a notebook(s) & list(s) keeper. OK, sports missing from the list, these days I walk and I will pick up golfing again once I’m retired.
Why am I posting this? Because even before Corona, I couldn’t fathom how people could NOT have a hobby to their name!
Not even reading mysteries or romance books.
For me, Clubbing isn’t a hobby. Meeting friends isn’t a hobby. Driving around your new car isn’t. “Movies” isn’t a hobby unless you are into special interest and are able to name any production someone has been in (and hey, that should include theatre productions, if you’re serious!).
My guess is, you will only reach people who were already persuing something creative actively during their spare time. Having said that, reaching out is always good and your instructional videos to Stampin’ Up designs are the best to get people started.
Many thanks for your feedback, Stefanie. I totally agree with you about hobbies. Like you, I could list lots of hobbies I’ve in my lifetime like knitting, dressmaking, reading, travelling, philately (stamp collecting) and jigsaw puzzles; some I still have like Sudoku, and if I had time, I’d like to do jigsaw puzzles. I think women are more likely to have hobbies than men. I’m not saying men don’t have hobbies because I know several who do but I know more that don’t! I also agree that the only people my promotion will reach are people who are already looking for something. And I also think there will be lots more people than normal looking for things to do now because of COVID-19. One of my sayings is that it’s better to have tried and failed than never to have tried at all! If I can get just one person interested enough to give a card kit a try, I’d feel that I have been successful! As the saying goes, watch this space! Take care and stay safe. xx
