Hello, Crafters.
To create today’s Ornate Garden card, I used the emboss resist technique. Daisies aren’t my favourite flowers but I’m really loving using this single daisy stamp which is from the Ornate Style Stamp Set. I started my card by stamping the daisy with Versamark three times along the bottom edge of a regular Whisper White Cardstock (CS) layer which I had wiped over with my Embossing Buddy.
After I had sprinkled over the images with White Emboss Powder, and tapped off the excess, I used my heat tool to heat set the images. At this point, I didn’t have an idea for a design for my card and chose Soft Sea Foam Ink to sponge over the images with a Dauber. Once I had covered the daisies, I decided to add some Seaside Spray Ink above the Soft Sea Foam, rather lie grass and sky.
Initially, I die-cut the images using the no.5 die from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies but I needed to layer it onto a colour without making it too large. I decided to cut off around the four edges just inside the stitch lines. Using the same die, I cut another rectangle but this time in Balmy Blue CS, and adhered the image inside the stitched lines.
I embossed two Whisper White CS top layers; one using the Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder, and the second one using the Subtle Dynamic/3D Embossing Folder. This gave me a chance to see the best background for my image. I chose the highly patterned Ornate Floral because I feel it makes the plainness of the image pop!
I wanted to add some Balmy Blue Ribbon but I didn’t have any and settled for the Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon. I wrapped it around the embossed layer which I had adhered to a Balmy Blue CS layer and tied it in a bow to the right-hand side. I love this ribbon but I would like it to be a bit more visible! Had I known in advance that I was going to use it I could have coloured it using my Stampin’ Blends.
I chose the BIRTHDAY CHEERS ALL AROUND sentiment from the Perennial Birthday Stamp Set and die-cut it using the no.2 slim die from the Stitched Rectangle dies. Starting with a Whisper White CS card base, I started to put my card together. I used Tombow to adhere the top layer to the card base, making sure I put some Tombow over the ribbon to make sure it didn’t go walkabouts.
I used Dimensionals to adhere the image and the sentiment on to the front of the card. My final touch was adding two Enamel Glitter Dots on the sentiment. To decorate the inside of my card I added a layer of Balmy Blue CS and a top layer of Whisper White CS. The image on the front of the card was my second attempt so I fussy cut two daisies from my first attempt and used them to decorate inside the card! No point in wasting them!
The Ornate Garden Suite can be used with an amazing amount of different techniques! That’s it from me today. I look forward to being back with you tomorrow, and in the meantime, stay home, stay safe and stay well! And of course, happy crafting.
JanB. xx

Oh Jan that is just a beautiful card. I am thinking I can justify purchasing this bundle as I love Daisys (even have a daughter with that name!!!). Would like to learn more about the emboss resist technique so will head over to your archives for a video. Warm Hugs: Mal
Many thanks, Mal. I’ve just checked my videos and I can’t find one that shows this technique!! It’s on the list now! Take care and stay safe! xx
