Hello, Crafters.
I’m sure you recognise the design of today’s fancy fold card video! It’s the same card I shared on Friday but I made it into a Z-fold card for a video. I decided to use my Stamparatus for the video cards because I knew I was guaranteed an excellent image. It also enabled me to set the sentiment onto the stamping plate at the same time.
At my first attempt to set the image and sentiment stamp at together, I found I needed a little bit of extra room! I achieved this by trimming a small piece of rubber off both stamps and it worked wonders! This enabled me to make five more cards easily after the Friday card which included three Z-folds. The first Z-fold was not a success because I used the Pineapple Punch Cardstock (CS) that should have been on the inside of the card on the outside, and vice versa!
It’s little things like this that makes me check my projects thoroughly before I start videoing! When I cut the cardstock pieces for the video card, I wrote a name on each piece so I knew exactly which piece went where and I avoided making another mistake! I explained this during the video and carried it through on to the cardstock measurements I put in the box below the video!
In total, I made six cards and the colour schemes I used were pink, yellow, coral (2), blue and purple. I don’t like multicoloured cards, and that applies to bunches of flowers as well! Another demonstration I shared in the video is how I decide on which colours I can use together, e.g. which blues work well together, and which purples I can use together.
After I had finished the video, I decided to add a small butterfly to each card. I stamped several butterflies from the Butterfly Gala Stamp Set on Whisper White CS scraps using Black Memento Ink, and painted them using the same three colour Blends I’d used on the flowers. Next, I used the Duet Butterfly Punch to cut them out! They added a good finishing touch to the card in the absence of me being able to think of anything else to use.
I think that’s about it for today. I wish you a very blessed Sunday. Take care and stay safe. I look forward to being back with you tomorrow and in the meantime, happy crafting.
JanB. xx

Jan such a beautiful bunch of cards. I am hoping the Easter Bunny can leave a few of the items from the Ornate Garden suite on my doorstep!!!!! I learnt a tip from Dawns Stamping Thoughts years ago when the Stamparatus first came out – she uses the silicon mat under the paper to give a better stamped image. I tried it and I so agree with her tip. Do try it and let me know what you think, please. Home yesterday with broken arm but that is not stopping me. The Blue Mountains are recovering brillantly so your Sister will be aok. Blessings to you both. Hugs: Mal
Hi, Mal. Sorry about your broken arm! Many thanks for the update on the Blue Mountains – it’s a relief! Yes, I learned about the silicone mat but I think it was from Australian Pepperly Rose and it does make a huge difference. Take care and stay safe! xx
Evening Jan. Maria from Pepperly Rose is an amazing demonstrator and artiste. I love her videos but can never live up to her reputation. Please do try the silicon mat underneath your paper. And let me know. Hugs: Mal
Hi, Mal. I used to watch Maria a lot. I’ll have to check her recent work out. I forgot to mention I do have a white silicone mat on my Stamparatus and yes, it does work brilliantly. xx
Can’t wait to get the Ornate Garden set…you made beautiful cards. Stay safe. We are on lock down also and so our hair and nails are a little shabby, but so what…as long as you are healthy…we will get through this.
Many thanks, Lynda. Yes, you’re absolutely right – staying well is the top priority, but I might still learn how to craft while wearing surgical gloves! LOL Take care. xx
