Hello, Crafters.
Today’s card is not a copy of a virtual swap from the virtual OnTour Event last week but it was inspired by a virtual swap! I would have liked to have copied the swap properly as I have done for the previous two swaps I’ve shared but I think the stamp used on that card was a retired stamp set and I didn’t recognise the dies used for the sentiment. I know using retired products goes against the guidelines for swaps but, personally, I think it’s quite acceptable under certain circumstances.
The idea for swaps is to inspire others, and this swap certainly inspired me! I’ll explain my card and then I can tell you how it differs from the swap. I started with the two-step Inspiring Iris Stamp Set and stamped the image using Black Stazon Ink. For the flower heads, I used Gorgeous Grape and for the leaves, I used Call Me Clover.
Using the Stitched Rectangle Dies, slim die no. 4, I die cut three columns in Gorgeous Grape Cardstock (CS), and I used die no. 3 to die cut two pieces of Designer Series Paper (DSP) and the stamped image. The DSP is from the 6″ x 6″ Brights DSP Pack from two years ago; the designs for these packs change every year but I don’t use all six packs up in one year, so I carry them over. Whatever designs you have will work well with this design of card.
I layered the columns together and adhered them to a middle layer of Whisper White CS. The sentiment I have used is from a new stamp set that will be available in the new catalogue and is called Blossoms In Bloom. Keep an eye out for this stamp set in the new catalogue because I think it will be really popular. It comes as a bundle with some stunning dies! The sentiment also fits the no. 1 die beautifully as well and I adhered it to the card front using Dimensionals.
Next, I adhered my layer to a Gorgeous Grape CS card base. I stamped another image of the Inspiring Iris onto another Whisper White CS middle layer in the bottom right-hand corner and I allowed the image to come off the bottom of the layer. Using the same colours of ink, I coloured the image and adhered the layer inside the card. I’m really happy with how this card turned out.
The swap card, I believe, is on a card base of Purple Posy CS and the middle layer is Crumb Cake CS. Like my card, there are three columns and the two outside columns are Purple Posy DSP from the 6″ x 6″ 2019 – 2020 InColours. It also looks as if the iris has been stamped onto a column of Purple Posy CS. The sentiment reads SENDING A LITTLE SOMETHING…
As I said earlier, I don’t recognise the dies that have cut the sentiment out. Altogether, it looks as if there are three layers and if it isn’t one of ours, I wish it was because it’s very striking! The image of the iris I’m almost certain is a retired Stampin’ Up! stamp. The best way I can describe it is to say where my iris is a sketch and a very relaxed image, the iris on the swap card is an image that needs to be coloured in “properly”!
If you have a retired Stampin’ Up! stamp set that features a single Iris bloom, I’m sure you’ll recognise it if I say it’s one stem with one long slim leaf going off to the right-hand side, there’s one fully-opened flower, two partially-opened flowers and three buds. Does this sound familiar to you? I did have a look on Pinterest to see if I could find it but no joy!
That’s it from me today. I look forward to being back with you tomorrow and in the meantime, please take care and stay safe. Happy crafting.

P.S. Stampin’ Up! announced yesterday evening that they are NOT retiring the Piercing Mat! This is excellent news. I hope they make the same decision about the Embossing Buddy and the Stamparatus plates (doors). I will keep you posted. JanB. xx

Jan, this is just such an elegant card and one I will make but without the Iris stamp as I do not have it. Love it. Thank you for sharing your amazing craft with me/us. Trusting Othman is relaxing – haha!!!!. XX M
Many thanks, Mal. You still have twelve months to buy this set if you find you don’t have a suitable stamp! Othman feels his wings have been clipped for a couple of days because we have builders working in the front and back gardens! They are re-doing the slabs on the steps down to the house and the slabs on the steps down to the garage (which is at the bottom of our garden)! He’s getting a great tan from being outside making me look paler and paler! LOL! xx
