Hello, Crafters.
Last night for the tenth consecutive Thursday most of the UK population were outside their houses at 8 pm clapping their appreciation for all the frontline workers and carers in the NHS. It has been suggested that will be the last time. I hope it continues until the Covid-19 has been brought completely under control! Locally I think it will be decided by the person who lets off fireworks at 8 pm each Thursday!
Yesterday I chose to use the Last A Lifetime Stamp Set and the matching dies called Lasting Elegance. I was very surprised that I had marked the dies as retired and had transferred them to one of my retired folders! This probably happened because the bundle has retired but not the individual products, and I guess I was distracted when I was updating all my stamp sets and dies!
As it turned out I didn’t use the stamp set, just the dies. The sentiment I chose LET’S CELEBRATE YOU is from the Bloom & Grow Stamp Set. I would have preferred a more sophisticated font but I used this one because it was the right size and the words were good. I started my card by die-cutting the two opposite corners using the corner die in the Lasting Elegance Dies.
I was going to use a sheet of foil as the middle layer but chose the Olive Green Foiled Noble Peacock Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP). This design has always looked more like Granny Apple Green rather than Old Olive. Using my Stamparatus, I stamped the sentiment using Granny Apple Green Ink two or three times to make sure I achieved a deep colour.
Next, I cleaned my stamp with my Simply Shammy and re-stamped the sentiment using Versamark Ink. I decided I wanted the sentiment to be shiny so it blended with the shiny DSP! After I had stamped the sentiment in Versamark and covered it with Clear Embossing Powder, I heat set it and I was really pleased with how close the colour was to the DSP.
I die-cut the sentiment using the regular die no. 3 from the Stitched Rectangle Dies and adhered it to a layer of the Noble Peacock DSP that was about 1/8″ wider on all sides. Before I started to put my card together, I sprayed the Whisper White Cardstock (CS) top layer that I die-cut the two opposite corners and embossed it using the Subtle Dynamic/3D Embossing Folder.
Then I adhered this layer to a middle layer of Noble Peacock DSP and then onto a Whisper White CS card base. Next, I adhered the sentiment to the centre of the card using Dimensionals. I used the two heart dies in the Lasting Elegance Die Set to die-cut four small and four larger hearts. After playing with several different options I settled on two smaller hearts on the sentiment layer.
I also adhered four Old Olive Rhinestones from the Noble Peacock Rhinestones in each corner, i.e. three small and one large. The final touch for the front of the card was a bow I made using some Ombre Lemon Lime Twist Ribbon I had leftover from the Lots of Happy All-Inclusive Cardmaking Kit.
Inside the card, I adhered a middle layer of the Old Olive Noble Peacock DSP and then a top layer of Whisper White CS. I did consider decorating one corner by using the same corner die I’d used on the front of the card but I decided it would take up too much space, especially if the sender wanted to write a congratulatory message inside. I settled for a 3/8″ strip of DSP strip instead.
I’m happy with my card but, as I said earlier, I would have liked a more sophisticated font for the sentiment! Anyway, that’s about it from me today. I look forward to being back with you tomorrow and in the meantime take care and stay safe. Happy crafting.
