Hello, Crafters.
Yesterday was day one of hubby’s three-week furlough and he spent six hours solid working in the gardens, both at the back and front. He was exhausted when he eventually gave up but he achieved so much. He’d also given his greenhouse an amazing spring clean, so much so that it looked like new! It was a very satisfying day for him.
To create today’s card I used the tree image from the Memorable Mosaic Stamp Set, which is the first time I’ve used this image. I practised on scrap paper before I went for the real thing to find out the best way to create the tree. I used Mint Macaroon for the leaves and stamped once, lifted the stamp and moved to the right slightly and stamped again. The second stamp filled the tree out beautifully.
I used the sample in the current Annual Catalogue as a guide to where the trunk should be positioned before stamping it with Soft Suede Ink. I was really pleased with the result and die-cut the image using the Stitched Rectangle Dies, no. 6 of the regular rectangles, and then adhered it to a layer of Soft Suede Cardstock (CS) which was one-eighth of an inch bigger all round.
put my card together starting with a Whisper White CS card base, a middle layer of Soft Suede CS and a top layer of Mosaic Mood Designer Series Paper (DSP) in a Mint Macaroon design. Although the tree is beautiful, it needed something else so I fussy cut a hummingbird from another design in the same set of DSP. This made the card pop because the bird is a very deep yellow with Mint Macaroon as well as a darker green.
I chose the sentiment IT’S YOUR DAY from A Good Man Stamp Set (c/f) and stamped it on a piece of Whisper White CS using Soft Suede Ink. It was die-cut with the Stitched Shapes circle die no. 1 and layered onto a Soft Suede CS circle that had been die-cut using the Layering Circles Dies, no. 3 straight cut circle. I adhered the tree image in the bottom left-hand corner of the card front making sure the gaps on the bottom and left-hand side had equal-sized gaps!
As soon as I picked my card up to make sure I had the image straight I realised I’d adhered it on the card base upside down, so the card opened backwards! Grrr!! I took the card to my guillotine and very carefully cut off all the exposed Whisper White CS without taking any of the Soft Suede CS as well! After I had adhered the image on the new card base correctly, I added the sentiment and the hummingbird correctly using Dimensionals.
I couldn’t think of anything to decorate the inside of my card so I copied – more or less – the layout on the front of the card. That is, a layer of Soft Suede CS, a layer of the Mint Macaroon DSP. I finished it off with a die-cut rectangle of Whisper White CS the same as the image on the front of the card, i.e. Stitched Rectangle Dies, regular die no 6. I decided not to put a layer of Soft Suede CS under the Whisper White CS as the card was getting quite heavy! Also, I was happy as it was without!
That’s it from me today. I look forward to being back with you tomorrow, and in the meantime, please take care, stay safe, and stay well. Happy crafting.
JanB. xx

Jan this is a delightful card. Never was a fan of the DSP until now. Will have to look more seriously at purchasing this paper. I do so trust that Othman will have a day off tomorrow after working all day today in the gardens. (He will welcome to come here and help me!!!!!). XXX Mal
Many thanks, Mal. Hubby was back out in the garden today! If you lived a bit closer he’d be happy to help! 😉 xx
Love the card Jan. Hummers are my favorite bird. Be safe & TYFS
Many thanks, Claire. I’ve never seen one apart from photogarphs and they always look fabulous birds! xx
