Hello, Crafters.
Demonstrators in Europe are experiencing longer delays than anticipated for orders because there was a power outage at the warehouse two/three weeks ago. This caused a small fire which knocked out two of the picking lines. Yesterday, I was really thrilled when my order from 30th May 2020 arrived because it contained gifts for my April online customers. I was even more thrilled that I was able to get everything sorted out, packaged, stamped, sealed and in the post by late afternoon!
Hubby and I took the packages down to our Post Office and managed to get everything posted in time to be collected and, hopefully, delivered to everyone today! This is the first time that I’ve been able to catch the last post and what made it even more surprising, is we are currently enjoying the Virtual OnTour Event organised by Stampin’ Up! In the morning I took part in the Speed Networking Event which was amazing.
Recently a lot of the cards I’ve been making have been in an attempt to use up my Designer Series Paper (DSP) that will be retiring on 2nd June 2020. Today’s card has been CASE’d from a fabulous card I saw on Pinterest made by Shirley Gentry, who I imagine is a US demonstrator. I say this because the centre image on the front of Shirley’s card looks a lot wider than mine. I’ve changed a few things but there’s no doubt where my card came from! Many thanks for the inspiration Shirley!
I haven’t worked out all the US measurements – there are too many of them and I’m not that clever! LOL! The basic card base and the middle and top layer sizes are as quoted below. Hopefully, you’ll be able to work out something by the measurements I give for A4 cardstock users. On the front and inside the card the middle layer is the linen design from the Pressed Petals DSP and the top layer is from the Old Olive design from the Noble Peacock Specialty DSP.
The other layers on the front of the card are: Blueberry Bushel Noble Peacock Specialty DSP 1¾” x 4¾” (4.5cm x 12cm) layered onto linen design from the Pressed Petals DSP 1 7/8″ x 4 7/8″ (4.8cm x 12.3cm); sentiment layer is from linen design from the Pressed Petals DSP 2 5/8″ x 3 5/8″ (6.7cm x 9.2cm) and is layered onto Blueberry Bushel Cardstock (CS) 2¾” x 3¾” (7cm x 9.5cm)(this is also the size for the message area inside the card); DSP image 2 1/8″ x 2 1/8″ (5.4cm x 5.4cm) layered onto a piece of Blueberry Bushel CS 2¼” x 2¼” (5.7cm x 5.7cm).
The sentiment HAPPY BIRTHDAY is from the Wiggle Worm Stamp Set (ret annual page104) and I stamped it using Blueberry Bushel Ink. The green leaves with yellow flowers were fussy cut from the Pressed Petals DSP. It was probably the fussiest fussy cutting I’ve ever done and it was anything but relaxing! LOL! The blue flowers inside the card were also fussy cut but they were relaxing and very straightforward!
I adhered them on the Old Olive Noble Peacock Specialty DSP under the message area because the Pressed Petals DSP is very lightweight. If I had I adhered them partly on the layer and partly on the Old Olive Noble Peacock Specialty DSP layer it would have spoiled the look of the flowers because they would have been very uneven. I made the message layer inside the card the same as the front of the card because I hadn’t used any Whisper White CS or Very Vanilla CS on the front and I think it would have stood out like a sore thumb!
This card is well out of my comfort zone but I love it. I’ll keep this card on show in my studio as a great example of how to use, not only DSP to decorate a card, but TWO different packs of DSP! That’s about it for today. I look forward to being back with you tomorrow and in the meantime please take care, stay safe and stay well. Happy crafting.
JanB. xx

Jan today’s card is so lovely and I am so impressed with the Pressed Petals DSP. Shame I never purchased it as the last time you used that DSP I honestly thought the flowers were real. Glad you made the post with Othman’s help. Blessings to you both. XX M
Many thanks, Mal. I agree that the flowers do look amazingly real – they’re gorgeous. xx
Your card is beautiful, Jan. Shirley definitely is a US demo. I know this because she’s my team mate! The blue in your photography is stunning. I have this DSP with me on vacation so I do believe I’ll be CASEing!
Many thanks, Karen. That’s great to know! Please pass my compliments onto Shirley! xx
This card is over the top gorgeous!
Many thanks, Cathy. I loved it as soon as I saw it. xx
