Hello, Crafters.
Today’s video shows how to make a birthday card and a fancy-fold card at the same time! I saw a card like this on YouTube and put my spin on it! I also offered the viewer other options too! All this in one very pleasing video which features my favourite flower, that is, the red poppy. The Peaceful Poppy Designer Series Paper (DSP) also features Rich Razzleberry (mauve) poppies, but I’ve never seen them in real life. I imagine they must look absolutely stunning!
Unusually for me, I only made a prototype card and then straight into the video! I normally like to make two cards beforehand, just in case! Fortunately, this video worked well without making a second card beforehand. I think this was because I made a mistake on the prototype which taught me a more foolproof way of dealing with that part of the card, i.e. the diagonal cuts.
If I hadn’t made the mistake on the prototype, I could have made it in the video! As it happened I was able to teach a way to cut the corners to make sure they are both equal. It would have been nice to test my revised way of doing the corners, but I was confident that I could get it right in the video. And it did work out well! In the video, I pointed out the mistake on the first card because it one of those mistakes that probably wouldn’t be noticed by anyone else!
The angled corner on the right-hand side of the card has been left unsealed so it can be used for a gift card. It would be easy to leave the angled corner on the left-hand side open if needed to hold something else. Another suggestion I offered was to adhere the backs of the second and third panels together to stop the card opening up to its full width which is fourteen inches.
I love being able to give viewers different options when possible, so they can put their own spin on my projects! The only struggle I had with this card was that I have been very good at using up my DSP before it retires in three weeks and I struggled to find enough matching designs in the packs I have! For the Magnolia Lane card, I was able to use four different designs, but I didn’t have quite enough of the poppy design, so I used a green stripe design for the back of the card!
It’s a great card and I enjoyed working on it. I hope you like it to. I wish you a very blessed Sunday and take care, stay safe, and stay well! Happy crafting.

Evening Jan. Love this card and popping in just to say that your video is not available – YouTube says it is Private. XX Mal
Many thanks for the prompt heads up, Mal. YouTube has just started a new “studio” and closed “classic” which is what I’ve been using for years. I must have missed a step. I’ve corrected it now. Please enjoy and have a very blessed Sunday. xxx
Thanks Jan for yr promptness in fixing this glitch. Just heading to bed so will view tomorrow morning. Look forward to making this card. Xxx mal
