Hello, Crafters.
As lockdown restrictions ease, yesterday our Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced the relaxing of the 2 metres social distancing rule as from 4th July 2020. It is still recommended but when visiting pubs, clubs and similar venues this can be relaxed to 1+ metres and wearing a face-covering when indoors remains in place. As from 4th July hairdressers and barbers can also open! My hairdresser phoned me yesterday evening to arrange my next appointment! Clive told me the COVID-safe steps he has put in place in his three salons, which includes only two hairdressers working at any time, including working on Sundays, and providing face masks for staff and for customers.
The stylists are not allowed to touch a client’s unwashed hair unless wearing gloves and all towels will be individually wrapped for each client. I feel scared and excited at the same time! I could have had an appointment on Saturday, July 4th but that’s only two weeks away and not long enough time to get used to the idea of venturing out. I settled for 18th July which gives me four weeks by which time I’m sure I’ll be fine!
Today’s card is my first play with the Borders Abound Stamp Set. I used it with my Stamparatus, stamped one image and moved the plate down one notch. As much as I enjoyed colouring the flowers and the leaves, it wasn’t easy, but it was oh so very easy to go over the edges. You don’t have to look too closely to see what I mean. I stamped the images using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, and coloured using my Light Just Jade Stampin’ Blend for the leaves and the light Magenta Madness stampin’ Blend for the flowers. I didn’t think I liked this pink but I have come to like it since I’ve used it. I layered the top image layer onto a middle layer of Magenta Madness Cardstock (CS) and then adhered it on to a Whisper White CS card base.
I chose the SENDING HEALING HUGS sentiment from the So Sentimental Stamp Set. After mounting it onto a plate for my Stamparatus, I coloured the top and bottom words using the Just Jade Stampin’ Write Marker Pen and then the middle word using the Magenta Madness stampin’ Write Marker Pen. After inking the stamp, I huffed on it and stamped it. I repeated twice more and the depth of colour was brilliant.
The sentiment and the Magenta Madness CS layer were both die-cut with dies nos. 3 and 4 from the fancy dies in the Stitched So Sweetly Dies Set. After adhering them together, I made a small bow with some Magenta Madness 2020-2022 InColour Ribbon. This ribbon is so very soft and easy to tie bows with! The bling I used is from the 2020-2022 InColour Enamel Dots They finished my card off beautifully and I turned my attention to the inside. I lined the top Whisper White CS layer up in my Stamparatus so the border was as close to the bottom as was sensible! After I had coloured it the same way I did the front – did you spot the mistake? – I adhered it to a layer of Magenta Madness CS and adhered it inside the card!
There are three other borders in the stamp set for me to try including one for Christmas! Watch this space! That’s it from me today. Don’t forget to let me know if you’re interested in taking part in my Boho Indigo Product Medley Class in the Mail. Full details are on the HAPPENING NOW page above under PROMOTIONS.
I look forward to being back with you tomorrow and in the meantime, take care and stay safe. Happy crafting.
JanB. xx

How deceiving a stamp set can be, Jan. I thought upon receiving my catalogue, no way, but am changing my mind. Really love this card, but I seem to love the elegance of all your cards. Hahaha. XX Mal and Gang
Many thanks, Mal. I’m looking forward to trying the others! xx
