Hello, Crafters.
I hope you’ve had a magnificent weekend. Next month I’m going to be offering my customers who shop with me during August a pack of 6″ x 6″ sheets of retired Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Paper (DSP). I have spent quite some time last week and yesterday, cutting my DSP using my trimmer! I prefer to use my trimmer because it cuts straighter than my two larger cutters.
There was already a blade in my trimmer when I started cutting but I had to change it while I was doing my first batch of DSP last week. Yesterday I had to put another new blade in and by my calculations, I have cut over 2000 sheets including some speciality DSP with foiling, Glimmer Paper and some patterned Vellum. I am absolutely amazed and I think this speaks volumes about the quality of our trimmer blade!
To create today’s card I used the template I made for my Stamparatus to create a wreath. I made a video quite some time ago showing how to make these. If you’d like to see this video, I’ll put a link at the bottom. I used one of the two smaller leaves stamps from the Forever Fern Stamp Set. I stamped the four diagonal corners using Just Jade Ink and then cleaned my stamp using my Shammy. For the leaves facing north, south, east and west, I used Pear Pizzazz Ink.
The sentiment HAPPY BIRTHDAY is from the Zoo Globe Stamp Set and I stamped it on a piece of Whisper White Cardstock (CS). I used the circle no. 1 die from the Stitched Shapes Dies. Using Tombow I adhered it in the centre of the “wreath” to cover where all the stems crossed in the middle! It’s a simple design and looks lovely as it is. I mounted it onto a layer of Just Jade CS and then a layer of Whisper White CS. My card base is Just Jade CS, with a middle layer of Whisper White CS and a top layer of one of the designs from Forever Fern DSP.
I decided to tie a piece of ribbon around the lower part of the top two layers and thought the new Just Jade Gingham would look nice. When I tried it I decided it looked too busy against the Forever Fern DSP. Then I decided to use two narrow strips of Just Jade CS to decorate the area instead. Using Dimensionals I adhered the image to the top part of the card and decided I needed some bling!
I painted all the leaves of the wreath and the two cardstock strips using my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen. Then I reached for the 2020 – 2022 InColour Enamel Dots in Just Jade but before I’d gone too far I wondered what it would look like I added the Magenta Madness Dots. I wasn’t sure that I liked them but I decided to leave them there – what do you think? Yes or No?
To finish the card I stamped the leaves once in Just Jade Ink and once in Pear Pizzazz Ink in the bottom right-hand corner of a top layer of Whisper White CS. This would have made a good masculine card if I hadn’t added the pink dots! Anyway, that’s it from me today. I look forward to being back with you tomorrow and in the meantime, please take care and stay safe. Happy crafting.

A beautiful card. The pink dots are quite bright. Something a little less vibrant might look nice – maybe Rococo Rose or Rich Razzleberry.
Many thanks, Katherine. Yes, the pink is rather bright – it’s one of the new InColours! xx
