Hello, Crafters.
I hope you’ve had a great weekend. Yesterday I added 140 more retired stamp sets to my Aladdin’s Cave of Retired Stampin’ Up! products. They are nearly all with a set of matching dies or punch or embossing folder. I say nearly all because there are some with punches where the punch is still current but the stamp set has retired. I have also added three more items to the Miscellaneous section. For the stamp sets and dies see sections Fb). and Fc). To check out everything I have available, please click on the link above. (Please remember Stampin’ Up! rules only allow me to sell to crafters who reside in the UK, the Netherlands, France, Germany and Austria. I’m sorry!)
To create today’s card I did some fussy cutting from the Playful Pets Designer Series Paper (DSP). I cut out several dogs and one cat so I could see what they look like when they’re standing next to each other looking at each other! As soon as I saw these two together, the other die-cuts went into a Ziplock bag ready for another occasion!
When I first saw the DSP with the pet hair on it I have to say I wasn’t impressed, but now I’ve used it as part of a design I don’t think it looks anywhere near as bad as I thought it would! I’ve always liked script designs on DSP and embossing folders and the black and white design is no different. I think it partners the pet’s hair DSP brilliantly!
I wanted to use a Basic Black Cardstock (CS) card base but I decided whoever buys this card will most likely buy it for a child and therefore Basic Black didn’t sound like a good idea. I used a thin strip of Real Red CS to show a divide between the two different designs of DSP. I didn’t measure the widths of the two pieces of DSP but guessed about one third and two thirds.
After adhering them on a regular middle layer of Real Red CS I adhered it to a Whisper White CS card base. Inside the card, I adhered a middle layer of Real Red CS and a top layer of Whisper White CS. To add a bit of decoration, I fussy cut another dog from the DSP and chose the easiest one; i.e. the one on the right-hand side on the front of the card, and adhered him in the bottom right-hand corner inside the card!
I chose the I HOPE YOUR DAY IS A REAL TREAT sentiment from the Pampered Pets Stamp Set and used my Stamparatus so I achieved a good solid black image on a piece of Whisper White CS. Using the Stitched Rectangle dies I die-cut the sentiment using the no 1 die from the Stitched Rectangles Dies. Next, I die cut a layer for the sentiment using the number 2 die and then I used the no 1 die to cut the centre out to create a complete Stitched Rectangle frame for the sentiment.
Then I used the no. 2 die to die-cut a complete layer in Real Red CS and adhered the sentiment and the frame on top of it. This allowed me to adhere the sentiment and the frame onto Dimensionals without worrying about the two parts falling apart! I was very pleased with how today’s fun card turned out!
That’s it from me today. Please check out the new additions in my Aladdin’s Cave…. you may find something you’ve been on the lookout for some time! I look forward to being back with you tomorrow and in the meantime please take care and stay safe. Happy crafting.
JanB. xx
