Hello, Crafters.
Summer has popped back for another quick visit to the UK! The weather for the last couple of days has been absolutely superb. Yesterday hubby and I sat in the garden by the pond to have our lunch. I don’t know what it is but there is something really relaxing about water, even more so when you’re by a pond that has fish in it!
I spent a large part of my day yesterday playing catch up after taking a day off on Wednesday! When I was able to start crafting I made my prototype card for Sunday’s video and also made a sympathy card to share with you today. It’s for a request I received from a friend who also goes to Sharon to have her nails manicured. Linda asked for two baby girl cards two new home cards and two sympathy cards.
Yesterday I also “processed” all my completed cards, i.e. photocopied the front of each card, stamped the copyright sign on the back and then put them in a C6 cello bag with an envelope. I must have processed about thirty cards yesterday and this brought the total amount of completed cards I have for sale to approximately 160+ and that’s not counting the fancy folds!
All I have to offer Linda is one baby card and now two sympathy cards! I have decided to make a list of non-birthday occasions that we send cards for here in the UK and I’m going to try and make sure I include these occasions when planning my cards like I did yesterday for today’s card! I think new home cards will be a challenge though!
The two stamp sets we have that I think are ideal for sympathy cards are Positive Thoughts and Woven Heirlooms and I used both for today’s card. I used Very Vanilla Cardstock and stamped the fern stamp from Positive Thoughts using Sahara Sand Ink. For a contrast colour, I decided to use Blackberry Bliss and used it to stamp the sentiment, PRAYERS AND HEARTFELT SYMPATHY ARE WITH YOU AND YOUR FAMILY, partially over the fern. Next, I die-cut the image and sentiment using the oblong label die from Nature’s Thoughts Dies. After I layered it onto a piece of Blackberry Bliss CS I adhered a piece of retired ribbon around the layers about an inch up from the bottom.
I couldn’t find any Blackberry Bliss ribbon but I did find a roll of Blackberry Bliss Baker’s Twine which I wrapped over and around the ribbon three times. To finish it off I added a bow. Before I added this (using Dimensionals) to a top layer of Very Vanilla CS I embossed it using the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder, which I then added to a middle layer of Blackberry Bliss CS. Finally, I added it to a Very Vanilla CS card base.
To decorate inside the card I took a top layer of Very Vanilla CS and stamped the fern in the bottom right-hand corner and then stamped it a second time immediately to the left and then a third time off to the right of the first image. After adhering the layer to a middle layer of Blackberry Bliss I adhered them to the card base. I didn’t add any bling because I don’t think it’s appropriate for a sympathy card.
That’s it from me today. I’m off to see Sharon again this morning; Friday morning every alternate week at 10 am is my new regular appointment which I really happy with because my nails don’t encroach onto our weekends now! I look forward to being back with you tomorrow and in the meantime please take care and stay safe. Happy crafting,
JanB. xx
