Every day this week I’ve been having a bit of a spring clean in my craft studio! I have all my new stamps sets and dies set up in my filing system ready for 04.08.20, and I had a ruthless clear out of all the stamped images I’ve created but not used. Most of them have been binned! I’m starting a new system that will make it easier (hopefully) for me to use these images rather than just save them.
Before I binned most of them I sorted out some I knew had been created with stamp sets that are still current. I think I finished up with about eight or nine small piles of images plus one pile of sentiments. I put each pile into a small cellophane bag and then slipped it inside the stamp box behind the insert. Next time I use one of these stamp sets I’ll see I have some ready-made images that might be suitable!
I don’t know if this will work but the way I’m looking at it is that at least I’ll be reminded each time I use the stamp set. Of course, this plan all goes to pot if I don’t use that stamp set again! LOL! Anyway, let’s talk about today’s card! Look at how well these three different coloured cardstocks go together! They are Pool Party, Just Jade and Shaded Spruce!
I think Just Jade is my favourite out of this year’s five new InColours. As well as Just Jade for the leaves, I used Pool Party for the flower and the buds. To decorate the top Pool Party layer, I stamped over it using the spotty stamp from the stamp set with Pool Party Ink stamped off once. On top of this layer is a layer of our White Vellum Cardstock which is ¾” shorter on the width and the height of the regular top layer.
I embossed it using the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder. Normally I like the result I get from this embossing folder but I don’t think it looks so great on Vellum. With hindsight, I wished I’d used Brick & Mortar 3D Embossing Folder. I went ahead and used the embossed Vellum anyway rather than wasting it because it still looks quite nice; it’s certainly a lot better than having plain Vellum, in my opinion.
I made the white bow using the Whisper White Faux Linen which comes in the bundle called Flowers for Every Season combo. The other two trims in this combo are the Misty Moonlight Baker’s Twine and the Just Jade Gingham. I had made the bow for yesterday’s card but changed my mind and wrapped some ribbon around the top right-hand and the bottom left-hand corners.
I don’t like the look of a ribbon wrapped around a card and then a ready-made bow adhered on top. Before I wrapped my ribbon around the top two layers, I found a needle and some white thread and gathered the centre from side to side. When I put the bow on top it looks like the bow has caused the gathered look! I hope you understand what I mean!
I finished the front of the card by adding five Coastal Cabana Glitter Enamel Dots. It looks like these are retired but we do have Gold Glitter Enamel Dots (152155 no. 11 on page 157). Also on that page are some Playing with Patterns Resin Dots which include Coastal Cabana Dots (152467 no. 14).
I couldn’t think how to decorate inside the card so I left it with a top layer of Pool Party, then a middle layer of Just Jade. I don’t particularly like green but I think this colour combo is fabulous! That’s it from me today. No more spring cleaning for the next few days. My plan for today is to continue on the project for Sunday’s video which I started last week! Although spring cleaning is satisfying work, crafting is fun!
I look forward to being back with you tomorrow. In the meantime, please take care and stay safe! Happy crafting.
