Hello, Crafters.
You will see there are two versions of today’s card! I included the branch the dove was holding initially but decided I didn’t like it! Using my paper piercer I very gently lifted the branch from underneath and slowly, slowly it came away from my embossed layer of Whisper White Cardstock (CS) without causing any damage! I went over the card front with my Adhesive Eraser and it all disappeared.
I’m much happier with my card now the branch has gone. At the end of today’s blog by which time you will have had an opportunity to see both versions, I’ll ask you which one you prefer. I started my card by stamping both doves and the PEACE ON EARTH sentiment onto a piece of our White Vellum CS with Versamark after rubbing over the Vellum with my Embossing Buddy.
After I dipped all three images into my box of Silver Embossing Powder, I tapped off the excess powder and heat set it. I used the dies from the Detailed Dove Dies to die-cut the two doves. To die-cut the sentiment I found the ideal die in the Tasteful Labels dies which co-ordinates with the Tasteful Touches Stamp Set.
There’s a small die in the Detailed Doves Dies for the small branch so I die-cut five of them because I thought I’d have two in each corner and one on the sentiment. The two branches in the corners looked good but I couldn’t get the fifth branch to go with the sentiment. This is when I decided to add it to the dove’s beak!
I wasn’t 100% about the idea but I let it ride and decorated the inside of the card. I added a top layer of Whisper White CS and a middle layer of Silver Foil. When I put the two layers onto the inside of my card, I realised I was trying to position them correctly on the wrong side! I pulled it off quickly without causing any damage to either side.
After turning the card around I adhered the layers to the correct side but it left the residue of glue on the other side. I used my Adhesive Eraser but there was just too much to remove and I was worried that all the rubbing might cause some damage to the front of my card which was the layer behind! I took the easy way out and adhered a top layer of Whisper White CS over the area and covered all the unwanted glue!
I adhered the smaller dove on the inside of my card. As you probably know, adhering Vellum to cardstock can be very problematic because the glue is normally visible through Vellum. Fortunately, the outlines of the images and the sentiment are all thick enough that I was able to apply a thin layer of Tombow over the backs of the heat-embossed images.
To finish off the front of my card I added three Silver Metallic Pearls to each pair of branches in the corners and three on the sentiment. I positioned them in the top right-hand corner so I could add a small dot of glue underneath the vellum! I certainly prefer the card without the dove holding a branch but which one do you prefer? With or without the branch?
Tomorrow is the first day of our virtual Leader’s Summit but I don’t think they’ll be much happening on the first day. I received the agenda a bit too late for me to check it out last night so I’ll have a look at it today. Once I’ve seen the schedule I’ll know if and how it’s going to affect my daily blog. Today I’ll be making my video for Sunday so I’ll be alright for my Sunday morning blog. I’ll keep you posted!
That’s it from me today. Take care and stay safe and I’ll be back with you tomorrow. Happy crafting.

Evening Jan. Lovely to be back with you again. I do prefer the card without the branch. XX Mal
Definitely without! Blessings. Christine
I like both of your cars either with the branch in the doves beak or without. It’s a beautiful card. Simple and clean and elegant.
Many thanks, Cathy. xx
I like the dove without but the dove inside with the branch looks fine. I think it may be that on the outside the branch was too large; inside it looks to be much smaller.
Many thanks, Barbara. Yes, I think you’re probably right! xx
Very nice card, Jan. I do agree with you. I like the card without the olive branch in the bird’s beak better. But I especially like your use of the vellum CS. It truly dresses up the card. Thanks for sharing.
Many thanks, Meg. I love using vellum! xx
