Hello, Crafters.
I would never have thought about putting So Saffron together with Pool Party but they look great! It only happened because, when I first saw the stamp for the small flowers on the stem, I could only see them as yellow! For some reason, I used So Saffron – rather than the brighter more definite Daffodil Delight – to colour them which is so not me!
I don’t think I’ve ever used So Saffron before but I’m so glad I did! I used my Light Pool Party Stampin’ Blend to colour around the edges of each image and was fully intent on using So Saffron and Whisper White as my colour combo! After I had punched the three images out using the Rectangular Postage Stamp punch the Pool Party really seemed to stand out.
I took a Pool Party Cardstock (CS) middle layer and put in under the Whisper White CS top layer and that was it! Decision made! I embossed the Whisper White CS using the Subtle 3D Embossing folder. On top of this, slightly higher than halfway, I adhered a one and a half-inch strip of So Saffron Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the 6″ x 6″ DSP Pack from about three years ago.
I adhered the three images using Dimensionals so they straddled the DSP strip. The HAPPY BIRTHDAY sentiment is from the Posted For You Stamp Set and I stamped it using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink onto a scrap of Whisper White CS. I punched it out using the Classic Label Punch and then adhered it in position using some Mini Dimensionals.
I felt the branch with green leaves looked rather bare so I added three opaque Elegant Faceted Gems along the stem. Then I added two more vertically in the top left-hand corner and two vertically in the bottom right-hand corner. I noticed the inside of the small yellow flowers looked incomplete so I adhered a gold Metallic Pearl in the centre of three of them.
Inside the card, I adhered a middle layer of Pool Party CS and a top layer of Whisper White CS. I had a spare image of the small yellow flowers – I don’t know what they are but they are really pretty – so I coloured them using Dark So Saffron and Light Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends. As I did with the images on the front of the card, I coloured around the edges with my Light Pool Party Stampin’ Blend.
I didn’t want the image adhered inside as a Rectangular Postage Stamp, so I roughly fussy cut around the edge so I could keep the Pool Party edging intact. Also, I didn’t want the full length of the image so I cut it down to just the top four flowers. I’m really pleased with how today’s card turned out given that I didn’t think I liked So Saffron as a colour! LOL!
This evening sees the start of the first events for our Virtual Leader’s Summit. Yesterday I made my video for Sunday and I’ll get it ready for publishing on Sunday morning together with my blog. I’m hoping I’ll still have some time for a spot of crafting over the next three days so I can make cards to share!
That’s it from me today. I look forward to being back with you tomorrow. In the meantime please take care and stay safe. Happy crafting.
