Hello, Crafters.
Last year Stampin’ Up! organised the first Backstage event for demonstrators who have reached the title of Silver Elite and above. The event was going to be a full-on training event to help us grow our businesses. Hubby and I had booked an extra week in New Orleans so we could have time on our own exploring the town! Then the pandemic struck! Our virtual Backstage event is called Leader’s Summit and begins in ten-days!
Over the three days of the event, SU has organised presentations by external presenter’s as well as some by other demonstrators. I am now working to get myself well organised so I’m ready for the end of the month. I’m working on making my thank you cards and handmade gifts for my August customers and I also need to make a video for Sunday, 30th August which will be the last day of the event. Some of the events will be at silly o’clock for demonstrators in Europe and the South Pacific; they will be recorded so we’ll be able to watch them at a more suitable time.
When the new Annual Catalogue first came out I didn’t pre-order as much as I normally do and now I keep finding products I should have ordered! My delivery yesterday included the Flowering Blooms Stamp Set and the co-ordinating Flowering Dies. I passed it by because I felt the main flower is too pointed, i.e. the leaves and the petals but I have seen some beautiful cards made with this image and there are other gorgeous flowers in the set. It’s a DistINKtive stamp set and the details in the flowers and leaves is amazing.
I used the two roses for today’s card but I also love the other tall slim branch which has small flowers on which I can see as yellow! I don’t know what this flower is meant to be – do you know what it is? I allowed myself to get a bit carried away with the two roses because as well as using it on the front of the card I also used it inside the card as well as on an envelope. As you know, this is something I rarely do!
I chose Coastal Cabana as my colour and took a piece of Coastal Cabana Cardstock (CS) which measured 4½” x 1¼”. After I had wiped over the cardstock with my embossing buddy I stamped the roses using Versamark Ink and then dipped it into my box of Whisper White Emboss Powder. After I had heat set it, I put it on one side while I worked on the sentiment. I chose YOU MAKE THE FLOWERS SMELL SWEETER AND THE SUN SHINE BRIGHTER which is from the All Things Fabulous Stamp Set. I went through the same process and heat embossed it in white. The top layer of Whisper White CS has been dry embossed using the Dainty Diamonds 3D Embossing Folder.
After I had cut the rose image into three equal pieces I wanted to pop them up on Dimensionals but I was unhappy because I thought they were a bit “flimsy” on their own. I cut a piece of Whisper White CS that was big enough to take the three squares allowing a small gap between each. Next, I adhered them on Dimensionals in the centre of the top layer. I did the same to the sentiment and then adhered it immediately below the image of the roses. I was going to add a bow but decided to use some Coastal Cabana Rhinestones from the pack called Holiday Rhinestones instead!
Finally, I adhered the stamped top layer of Whisper White CS on a middle layer of Coastal Cabana CS. I took an envelope out of the drawer and stamped the roses on the front in the bottom left-hand corner! I’m really pleased how this card turned out; it’s quite clean and simple. That’s about it from me today. I look forward to being back with you tomorrow, so in the meantime, please take care and stay safe! Happy crafting.
JanB. xx

Very lovely card. Will you still be traveling to New Orleans? I live about 2 hours from there.
Many thanks, Maddalena. Unfortunately not. It’s going to be an online event because of the pandemic. If it goes ahead next year at the end of August it’ll be in Las Vegas so hubby and I won’t get a chance to see New Orleans. Not that we’re complaining. We love Vegas and have been seven times! I even spent four days in hospital there one year – 2012 I think! xx
You’re right…I also agree the other flower is too “pointy” but when I looked on Pinterest for them, it seems that IF they are done in the right colors, they look good but some really didn’t cut it for me either. Glad you chose to show this one or I wouldn’t have even read your post any further.
I enjoy all your cards, but I have a question about this one. How do you determine the size of the base card when you split the image like you did? I am very challenged when it comes to math like this and have trouble whenever I try this technique. I’ve only been successful when I have plenty of room to cut off the end, but would like to be able to plan ahead!
Thanks for all your inspirations.
