Hello, Crafters.
Yesterday I decided to make one of each of the cards that come in the global Paper Pumpkin Box of Sunshine. I a[ppreciate not everyone likes card kits but these are excellent value and give so much more than you need to complete the eight cards provided. As I always do when I put together kit cards, I used THANK YOU sentiments from other stamp sets I have.
Apart from changing the sentiment, I did stay with the instructions that came with the kit for these four cards. I love the sequins provided because they don’t have holes in the middle! I know it probably sounds daft, but sequins with holes are like buttons. When used on greeting cards they should have some cotton, cord, twine or something similar through the hole; it shouldn’t be left empty!
The pineapple, the two lemons, leaves and sun are all from one sheet of die-cuts and there are five of these sheets. This leaves plenty of opportunities to do your own thing with the card bases provided, or for extra cards, once you have finished the eight in the kit. On the back of the instructions are three alternative ideas of how you can use the die-cuts in the kit for alternative projects.
This is an all-inclusive kit which includes Glue Dots and Mini Dimensionals which means you only need to add a stamp block (Block D 118485) to make these cards. My personal preference was to use Tombow liquid glue and the regular size Dimensionals, and I used my Stamparatus for my stamping.
The stamp sets I used for the cards are as follows: the two cards with the all yellow/orange card fronts are from the Borders Abound; the pineapple card is from the Blossoms in Bloom and the sunshine card is from the Field Journal. I love that there is an extra sheet in the kit which provides a large label and extra die-cuts to decorate the box to make it a gift box.
The story behind the Box of Sunshine is from Sara, SU CEO “It is specially designed to help you create a box full of Cheer-and-Treats to share and brighten the day of someone special in your life. Once you have made the eight cards you pack the box (using the beautiful yellow tissue paper which comes in the box) with yellow sweets and treats! This is a great idea for a birthday or if someone needs some cheering up!
In the US Paper Pumpkin is offered as a monthly subscription whereas in Europe and South Pacific we have one global Paper Pumpkin a year. The cost in the UK is £20.00 (155231) and in Europe it’s €26.00. It’s also available in French (155376) and German (155377). This kind of kit would keep me amused if we were travelling or in any situation where I have time on my hands and I can’t craft at home!
That’s it from me today. I look forward to being back with you tomorrow, and in the meantime please take care and stay safe. Happy crafting.

Hi Jan
I too received the Paper Pumpkin this week and can’t wait to try it out.
I noticed you said we will only get one a year. That is so disappointing as my husband wanted to buy me a subscription for my birthday present. Have you any idea why can’t do as the other countries do and have one per month?
Anyway your cards are lovely, Jan. Thanks
Hi, Jan. We have been saying for years that we need Paper Pumpkin in Europe and South Pacific. Stampin’ Up! say there are logistic problems for something that’s available on a monthly basis. Another problem is that we all have different celebrations. For example, the US has 4th July, Thanksgiving and Halloween which is very big over there. xx
Hi Jan, Thank You for sharing. You do such a great job explaining each card. I’m sorry
that you only get one card a year. That’s a shame!!! Maybe they’ll fix it someday soon
Sarah in Oklahoma, USA
Hi, Sarah. I very much doubt it! I attended the last Leadership SU ran in January/February 2015 and we were told SU were looking into it! LOL! We would love to have PP over here. xx
