Hello, Crafters.
I hope you’ve had a wonderful weekend. For those of us in the UK, the weather has been scorching…………………and I love it! I don’t complain about the heat because I complain about the cold instead! Yesterday evening was amazingly busy for me and it was a struggle to prepare my blog for this morning.
I’m very pleased with today’s card which was inspired by a card I remember receiving from a cousin of mine two or three years ago except she had three snowflakes hanging from a branch. The fact that I still remember the cards speaks volumes about how impressed I was with her card. I started with a Whisper White Cardstock (CS) card base, a middle layer of Whisper White CS and a top layer of Whisper White CS which I embossed with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder. I adhered the two layers together and worked on the snowflakes. I die-cut four of each shape I needed and adhered them together.
This is much easier than mounting delicate die-cuts like snowflakes onto Dimensionals. The thickness of four layers adhered together protects the “arms” of the snowflakes. Before I adhered them in position, I adhered a length of narrow Whisper White Baker’s Twine at the top of one arm of each three snowflakes.
Next, I put a strip of Snail along the back of the two layers. I adhered the snowflakes in position and then fixed the other end of the Baker’s Twine onto the Snail on the back and trimmed off the excess. Using Tombow, I adhered the two layers to the card base making sure I put some Tombow on the Baker’s Twine to make sure it doesn’t work its way out!
I used the Playful Alphabet Dies to die-cut four each of the letters that spell Noel. Fortunately, in this set of dies, there are a few letters that have two dies and that applies to N, O, E and L, so I only had to run them through my Big Shot twice to get four of each! I adhered them together with the same way I did the snowflakes. I used my T-square ruler to help me keep the letters in a straight line! I finished off the front of my card by adding a clear Elegant Faceted Gem to the centre of each snowflake and then three in a vertical line at the end of the Noel. I need to order another set of these gems, they really are gorgeous!
I added a top layer and a middle layer of Whisper White CS together and then adhered to the inside of my card. To decorate the top layer I adhered a medium-sized snowflake in the bottom right-hand corner and then adhered a small one in the centre. As you know I love all-white cards and I like clean and simple…….so I’m really pleased with today’s card.
Sometimes I really surprise myself! Last evening was one of those times! I just didn’t think I’d have time to prepare my blog for this morning but as you can see I did! I will be back in a little while to add the products I used as well as the sizes of the card pieces. That’s it from me today. I look forward to being back with you tomorrow. In the meantime, please take care and stay safe. Happy crafting.
