Hello, Crafters.
I managed time yesterday evening before the Welcome Reception at the Leader’s Virtual Summit to make a fun Christmas card using the Warm & Toasty Stamp Set. I love the images in this set except that they all have their eyes closed. I have Sandboxed the company to request all images have open eyes but whether it will change or not, time will tell!
In the meantime, I will continue to open the eyes on all images I use. Occasionally, like yesterday evening, my addition to the polar bear looked worse than with his eye closed! LOL! Apart from going back to the drawing board and starting again, the only option I had was to add googly eyes!
I stamped the image using my Stamparatus which enabled me to get his ice-skates solid black. The only parts of this image that needed colouring were the scarf and hat although I did “colour” the rest of him using my Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Pen. I used a glue pen to paint the cuff around his hat and the pom-pom and then dipped them into my retired Dazzling Diamonds Glitter.
I have also sandboxed my request to bring back Dazzling Diamonds. I ask you! How on earth can we make Christmas cards without it! LOL! The Whisper White Cardstock (CS) the bear is skating on has been embossed using the Hammered Metal 3D Embossing Folder, and I decided to paint it with my glue pen and dipped it into my Dazzling Diamonds.
I’m rather surprised but very pleased that the pattern of the embossing under the Dazzling Diamonds can still be seen! After I had finished the bear I fussy cut him out which was quite easy to do. I didn’t worry about trying to cut out the white areas of his ice skating boots which I decided would be far too tricky even for somebody like me who enjoys fussy cutting! One step too far!
The sizes of my layers are, starting from the outside are: Real Red CS is the middle layer, Whisper White CS is half an inch shorter on both sides to the regular top layer, Real Red CS is one-eighth of an inch smaller on both sides, and the Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper (DSP) is one-eighth of an inch smaller on both sides. The depth of the embossed Whisper White CS is one and seven-eighths tall. I’m sorry I didn’t get time to work out the actual measurements! I’m happy to work them out later if anyone would like them.
The Welcome Reception yesterday evening was short but very sweet. Sara – Stampin’ Up! CEO – introduced various members of the SU team with a little known fact about each person which was quite funny. Next, we were sent into breakout groups which I hadn’t been expecting because it wasn’t on the agenda and did catch me somewhat by surprise! I copped out by not having my camera on!
This evening I will make sure I’m better prepared for any breakout and networking sessions! LOL! One thing I would like to share with you now is the gift SU sent out to all the leaders who are booked to attend this event. Unfortunately, the gifts were sent out at different times and rather than spoil anyone’s surprise we agreed not to share photographs until the start of the event.
The gift was two Italian crystal champagne glasses that have been engraved with the Stampin’ Up! logo. The gift was in a very large Tiffany turquoise box. I don’t drink but they are a beautiful memento from the company and shows how much they truly appreciate us demonstrators. I’m very proud to be part of the SU family!
That’s about it from me today. I hope to be back with you tomorrow, and in the meantime please take care and stay safe. Happy crafting.
JanB. xx

Lovely card Jan and I am with you about bringing back Dazzling Diamonds. I use it also on christmas cards despite being in Australia where it is always hot on christmas holidays. XX M
Many thanks, Mal. Hopefully, crafters who like using DD bought some when it was available because it will last a long time! xx
What a fun greeting! What?! DD is retired?! So glad I bought extra! You are right – can’t live without the bling! Think of using your elegant new stemware for OJ in the morning! Or a bit of fruit water with supper…..
Many thanks, Billie. Yes! Retired! Yes, I could use the champagne glasses for alternative drinks but I’d be so upset if one was broken, so I’ll stick with my Ikea glasses! LOL! I’ll admire my Tiffany glasses which are standing securely in my glass cabinet! xx
