Dove of Hope Peace Christmas Card

Christmas Cards

17 Sep

Hello, Crafters.

I wasn’t sure what I was going to do for today’s card except that I wanted to use the Dove of Hope Stamp Set. My first step was to stamp one image of each dove and I grouped two sentiments together, they are PEACE ON EARTH and AND HOPE IN YOUR HEART. I used Versamark for stamping and dipped the images and sentiment in Silver Emboss Powder.

After I had heat set them I used the dies from the co-ordinating Detailed Dove Dies and the largest circle die in the Stitched Shapes Dies for the sentiment. I had positioned the sentiment to the left-hand side of the circle because I thought I might cut some of the circle off and line the straight edge up along the right-hand side of the card.

For the top layer, I chose one of the designs from the Feels Like Frost 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack. My first thoughts were to use a silver sheet with a white pattern but I went for a white sheet with a silver design. My reasoning was that with a silver sheet, I’d need to put a Whisper White Cardstock (CS) middle layer underneath it and would then have to use a Smokey Slate CS card base.

By having a white sheet with a silver design I could have Silver Foil for my middle layer and a Whisper White CS card base. The design I chose comes in both combos so I was still able to use the design I liked best! As I was arranging the doves and the sentiment on my card front my idea of having the sentiment circle going over the edge just wasn’t going to work.

I needed to have something to fill in the gap that I had been hoping I would be cutting off! The only die in the set that was a sprig on leaves/berries curved the wrong way round! I had a look through all my dies and found four other sets that had sprigs that I thought would work. The die I chose is from the Boho Indigo Dies.

I die cut one in white and one in silver. The silver one was adhered down first then I adhered the white one slightly offset and also lower than the silver. I was really pleased with the result – it looks as if I’d planned it! LOL! Using Dimensionals, I adhered the sentiment to the front of the card towards the bottom.

Next, I used Dimensionals to adhere the larger dove so his tail feathers were just over the top of the sentiment circle. Inside the card, I adhered a top layer of Whisper White CS and a middle layer of Silver Foil. I used the smaller dove that I had heat embossed and die-cut inside the card in the bottom right-hand corner.

I didn’t add any embellishments although I did think about putting a Thick Whisper White Baker’s Twine bow near the bottom of the sprigs. Because there’s already a lot of sparkle and shine with all the silver I didn’t think my card needed any more bling! I’m very happy with how today’s card came together!

That’s about it from me today. I look forward to being back with you tomorrow and in the meantime, please take care and stay safe. Happy crafting.

JanB. xx

Jan…just beautiful….I pinned and hope to make some for my Christmas cards this year. I will have to sub out the twig die (maybe use the one from the curvy dies, or the sprig punch!) because I don’t have the boho dies. I purchase extra of the feels like frost paper because it is just beautiful to use (even anytime!) Blessings to you.
