Hello, Crafters.
It doesn’t take the weekend long to come back again does it? Whatever your plans are for this weekend, I hope you have time to relax and recharge your batteries. Hubby’s working this weekend but at least he works from home so I’m not complaining. We have challenged each other for Sunday, and that is we both have to put ten items for sale on eBay! It started because during the week I had a mass clearout of my shoes and bagged up twenty-one pairs for our local charity shop. This has left me with nine pairs of better quality shoes that are going onto eBay. Hubby is a hoarder and has millions of things he could sell! Well, maybe not quite a million, it just looks like a million! LOL!
I’ve used another stamp set that was in my order that arrived on Thursday, which is Gnome for the Holidays. It wasn’t until I started colouring the gnome that I realised his eyes can be seen. Once I’d noticed them he looks as if he’s staring at me! LOL! It’s very unusual for Stampin’ Up! to carry Designer Series Paper (DSP) forward but this year they’ve carried forward four from last Christmas and they are Feels Like Frost, Toile Tidings, Brightly Gleaming and Wonderful Time (kit). I hope this becomes a regular occurrence!
Apart from having chosen the design I wanted from the Feels Like Frost 6″ x 6″ DSP pack I didn’t have any plan in my head which way I was going with my card. I set my Stamparatus up with the three gnomes and the treehouse and stamped them all at the same time using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. After checking the colours that co-ordinate with this DSP I took out all the matching Stampin’ Blends.
These are the colours I used for the three coloured images! The treehouse: Dark (D) & Light (L) Crumb Cake, L Old Olive, L & D Balmy Blue, L & D Seaside Spray and L Smokey Slate. Mr. Gnome: L & D Purple Posy, D Highland Heather, D Black, Ivory, D Balmy Blue. Mrs. Gnome: L Old Olive, D Real Red, L & D Purple Posy, L & D Highland Heather, D Daffodil Delight, D Crumb Cake, Ivory.
I also used Wink of Stella on Mr. Gnome’s beard and his bell and also on the Christmas lights around the treehouse. Once I’d finished colouring the images I sat and fussy cut them. Although I stamped the other Mr. Gnome I decided I wasn’t going to be using him so I didn’t spend any time colouring him. I’ll save him for another project.
After cutting my chosen sheet of DSP to size for a top layer, I took a Whisper White Cardstock (CS) middle layer. Next, I adhered the two together and then adhered them to a card base of Highland Heather CS. I chose the sentiment HOLLY, JOLLY EVERYTHING from the stamp set but I couldn’t decide how I wanted it stamped. My first idea was Purple Posy CS with Highland Heather Ink, then I tried Highland Heather CS with black ink and then I tried Purple Posy CS with black ink.
I was struggling to make up my mind which looked best so I decided to die-cut them so I’d be able to put them in position. After checking through my “label” dies I chose the smallest stitched rectangle with slanted corners from Hippo & Friends dies because it fitted the sentiment beautifully. It was so much easier deciding which one I wanted. The two unused ones will be kept in the stamp set so I’ll always be able to use them for another project……..maybe with the other Mr. Gnome!
I think that’s about it from me today. I look forward to being back with you tomorrow and in the meantime, please take care and stay safe. Happy Crafting.
