Hello, Crafters.
Normally I don’t buy any stamp sets that have stamps for Halloween but I made an exception for the Have a Hoot Stamp Set! I have the dies arriving tomorrow but for today’s card, I decided to use the stamp for a design that didn’t need the dies. It was only when I was looking at the images that I realised the images have been drawn without the owls making contact with the trees they are sitting on!
The designer has been amazingly clever and done it this way so the owls can be die-cut without any lines of the branches being visible! I have never noticed if that has ever been done before! I haven’t decorated the inside of my card but my plan was to stamp the same owl as on the front of my card again and fussy cut it so I could adhere him inside my card!
It isn’t often I make a card where the sentiment is part of the image and it isn’t often I use three stamp sets either! The stamp sets are Have a Hoot, Arrange a Wreath for the sentiment and Yuletide Pasture for two of the baubles to hang on the tree. I used my Stamparatus to stamp the owl onto a piece of Whisper White Cardstock (CS). I used my Stampin’ Blends to colour the image as follows: Light Crumb Cake for the owl; Light Soft Suede for the tree branches; Dark Real Red, Dark Old Olive and Light Smokey Slate for the baubles; Light Pool Party around the outline of the image.
I used my Stamparatus to stamp the left horn of the ?? steer/buffalo ?? on the Yuletide Pasture Stamp Set to get the two baubles. After I had fussy cut them, I coloured them with Stampin’ Blends – yes it would have been easier to colour them before fussy cutting! – and adhered the large one over the spider and the smaller one by its side. I’d like to make the owl look happier rather than apprehensive at the two baubles but I need to practice first in case I spoil the image!
As the sentiment was a photopolymer stamp I put it on a block and stamped it onto the image – as opposed to using my Stamparatus. Next, I used the no. 4 die from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies to cut the image out. The red and white striped Designer Series Paper is from Heartwarming Hugs and I used it as a top layer and adhered it onto a middle layer of Whisper White CS. I wanted to add some decoration to my card and decided to use the Snowflake Splendour Ribbon. I worked out where the centre of the card was and was able to decide where to put the ribbons so it was centred on my card. I love the sparkle on this ribbon!
That’s it from me today. I look forward to being back with you tomorrow and in the meantime please take care and stay safe. Happy crafting.
