Hello, Crafters.
Hubby and I didn’t get very far with our self-inflicted eBay challenge yesterday! We were both very willing to get on with the job but we were just too tired! For the second time in four weeks, I made a mistake when giving the measurements on yesterday’s video and we needed to get a note onto the screen to let everyone know. Unfortunately, we’re still very new to this video editor that we both feel we’re making it much harder work than it needs to be. We did what had to be done but we didn’t get to bed until 1 a.m. and were up again at 7.30 a.m. because hubby was working yesterday. His lunch break was 12 – 1 p.m. so we said we put our heads down for a 45-minute power nap which we did, but our next-door neighbours decided to start drilling at 12 o’clock! Today’s another day!
I created today’s card using the Peace & Joy and the Dove of Hope Stamp Sets. Both sets have matching dies called Joy and Detailed Dove respectively. The Joy dies are a set of nine dies for the words Peace, Joy and Bright. I decided I’d do the top and bottom layers of the word PEACE using Whisper White Cardstock (CS) and the middle layer using Silver Glimmer Paper. I have a box which I use to save leftover pieces of cardstock I’ve adhered to double-sided adhesive sheets. As soon as I saw a piece of the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper I knew I just had to use it even though it’s retired! Had I not found that piece of Glimmer Paper I would have stuck to my plan of using Silver Glimmer Paper, and then substituted everything I have done using Night of Navy with Silver everything!
A little while ago I made a Christmas Card using the Plush Poinsettia Specialty Paper and cut it to a particular size so the geometric pattern was symmetrical, i.e. 5″ x 3 9/16″. I adhered it to a piece of Whisper White CS that was exactly the same measurement. Next, I adhered this piece to a middle layer of Night of Navy CS which measures 5 3/16″ x 3¾”. As you can tell, I eyeballed the size of that layer! Using my Stamparatus, I stamped the dove and the sentiment ON EARTH using Night of Navy Ink and then I stamped them both using Versamark. After I dipped both pieces in my box of Clear Emboss Powder, I used my heat tool to heat emboss them. I used the die to die-cut the dove and I cut the sentiment freehand using my Paper Snips.
When I started arranging and re-arranging the three pieces for the front of my card, I decided the PEACE needed something to make it stand out! My decision was to use a Dauber and sponge the edges all around the word and then to go around again using Versamark so I could heat emboss using my Clear Emboss Powder. It wasn’t quite as easy as I thought it would be! I wasn’t able to get my Dauber into to all the curves so I did as much as I could and then I went around the difficult areas using a cotton bud! Versamark was even more difficult! I used another cotton bud which I kept dipping onto my Versamark pad and went all-around again! I did it but it was a bit hit and miss! I should have stuck to my original idea of using Silver!
d a layer of Night of Navy CS inside my card and then a layer of Whisper White CS on top. It was getting a little bit late and decided to call it a day before I had decorated the inside of my card. Today I’m planning on making another heat-embossed image of the dove and adhering it in the bottom right-hand corner! I’m happy with my card but I would like to see what it looks like in silver so I may just to make another one!
That’s it from me today. I hope you have a great week and I look forward to being back with you tomorrow. In the meantime, please take care and stay safe. Happy crafting.
JanB. xx

Evening Jan. The sponging around the sentiment makes it stand out. Love that idea. Not seen it before. XX M
Many thanks, Mal. Sponging the edges used to be very popular at one time but doesn’t seem to be used much now. It certainly came in handy on this occasion. xx
Beautiful card. I’ve never done this process of using versamark around the outside edge, but maybe using the versamark pen might have helped get into the narrow points. Awesome idea.
Many thanks, Lola. Yes, a Versamark Pen would have been a great idea. I have one and wish I had used it! xx
Hi Jan, Beautiful card. You know I think you work too hard. You don’t have to post everyday and make as many cards as you do. None of us would think any less of you if you slowed down. You’ve been doing this for a long time and work so hard on your Stampin up. Maybe it’s time for a break or at least a slow down. You take care of yourself and get some rest. love ya, Sheron
Many thanks for your concern, Sheron, it really is appreciated! Unfortunately, for better or worse, I enjoy what I do! Catch 22! No doubt the time will come when I’ll have to slow down but it’s not today! God bless you. 💖xxx
