Snowflake Wishes Christmas Card 2

Christmas Cards

3 Sep

Hello, Crafters.

I’m not sure my photographs do credit to the actual colour of Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper. In real life it’s stunning and if yesterday’s card had you thinking about getting the Snowflake Bundle and this Glimmer Paper, today’s card will help you make up your mind that you really do need both!

Yesterday’s card showed how I created a snowflake by die-cutting the shape into the top layer of Whisper White Cardstock. Today’s card shows three Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper die-cut snowflakes adhered to the top layer. I used Balmy Blue Ink to stamp the sentiment with my Stamparatus which allowed me to stamp twice to make sure I achieved a solid colour.

After I had stamped the sentiment SNOWFLAKE WISHES FOR A MERRY CHRISTMAS, which is from the Snowflake Wishes Stamp Set, I embossed the top layer using the Subtles 3D Embossing Folder. In the So Many Snowflakes Dies there are three sizes of snowflake dies and I die-cut one large and two medium snowflakes for the front of my card and one small one for the inside.

Habit made me run the dies through my new Cut & Emboss machine forwards and back once only. It die-cut through the Glimmer Paper beautifully which is fantastic for such intricate dies. Next time I’ll try to remember to see what the dies are like if I run them through just once! After I had adhered my card layers to the front of my card I adhered the snowflakes. To finish off the front of my card I added some Snowflake Adhesive-Backed Embellishments.

Each pack of these embellishments contains 260 snowflakes. They are adhered on two separate acetate sheets with one sheet in varying shades of pink/yellow colours and the other sheet is in shades of blue/green/purple. Normally I don’t like multi-coloured anything but this pack has the two sets of colours separate from each other! The other aspect I like about these embellishments is that they don’t have holes in the middle of them.

Inside the card, I adhered a middle layer of Balmy Blue CS and a top layer of Whisper White CS. I adhered a small snowflake in Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper in the bottom right-hand corner. You may notice that today, unlike yesterday, I didn’t add any Basic Rhinestones in the centre of the snowflakes. What do you think – add Rhinestones or not? Or should I add some Snowflake Adhesive-backed Embellishments in the centre of the Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper snowflakes?

That’s it from me today. I look forward to being back with you tomorrow, and in the meantime please take care and stay safe. Happy crafting.

JanB. xx

This card is beautiful, I love it! I hope you don’t mind but I’m copying this for my Christmas cards this year. The blue glimmer paper is gorgeous!! I almost hate to cover most of it up. I do have a question though. With the adhesive backed snowflakes, did you use a variety from the sheet of blue/green/purple? In the picture, they all look blue.
    Thank you!!

Hi. Kellie. I’ll be very pleased if you copy my card! When I picked out the snowflakes I deliberately picked the ones that looked really blue – I wish they were all the same shade of blue – they are such a great colour! xx

That’s great, thank you! Ok, that definitely helps, thanks! I might have to order more snowflakes then. I’m making 50 of these cards & I only bought 2 packages of snowflakes. I also used the adhesive sheets for the first time with the die cut snowflakes. It’s a little tedious getting the backing off but it’s so much easier and neater than glue, in my opinion.

Hi, Kellie. Yes, it’s much easier with the adhesive sheets. I found that when I use the new SU sheets (rather than the Sizzix sheets we used to have) once I have put the adhesive onto my cardstock I have to give it a good rub over with my bone folder to make sure it gets a good grip. Then after I have done my die-cutting I find it easy to remove the backing. I hope this helps. Take care and stay safe. xx
