I finished today’s card off by adding some Adhesive-Backed Snowflakes which are showing up in my photographs as bright pink! In real life, the colour changes as the card is moved and the colours range from clear to cream to pastel yellow to bright pink but you wouldn’t know that without me telling you! I chose to use the reindeer image from the Warm & Toasty Stamp Set but before I started I stamped three or four images of the reindeer’s head on the Grid Paper in my Stamparatus. I wanted to make sure I could give the reindeer open eyes – you probably know I don’t like images that have closed eyes!
When I was happy I could do it, I stamped the image onto a piece of Whisper White Cardstock (CS) using Memento Ink. Using Stampin’ Blends I coloured the body using Light Crumb Cake and then I used Dark Crumb Cake on his hooves and antlers. Next I fussy cut the image and the only part that was a slight challenge was the legs. Instead of piercing my scissors through to the unpainted Whisper White CS I cut between the hooves and cut out the unpainted CS only. Next, I did the same to the smaller area of unpainted cardstock. This works well as long as you remember not to cut away any of the painted areas of the hooves. If you do this, when you adhere the reindeer onto your cardstock you’ll find the two sides won’t marry up together very well! Look closely at the hooves on my reindeer to see if you can see the joins!
I chose the pink forest design from the Feels Like Frost Designer Series Paper (DSP) and I used the no. 8 die from the Stitched Nested Labels Dies cutting as near to the bottom of the design as I could. These dies have stitching on the inside and outside of the cut line and I wanted to use both on my card! To achieve this I took a top layer of Whisper White CS and lined the same die onto this layer so where the vertical cut lines on either side of the die ended – i.e. where they started going inwards towards the point- it was also the top of the Whisper White CS. I put it through my Cut & Emboss Machine. Next, I embossed the remains of the top layer using the Old World Paper 3D Embossing Folder.
I decided to adhere the white cut-out back into my top layer and, working from the back, I taped it back into place. Then I turned the layer over and adhered the DSP in place. Next, I adhered the reindeer onto the DSP using Tombow. I found the sentiment ready stamped and punched inside the Itty Bitty Christmas Stamp Set. After punching five more Whisper White CS labels using the Classic Label Punch, I adhered them all together with the sentiment on top and then adhered it to the front of my card. Inside my card, I adhered a middle layer of Balmy Blue CS and a top layer of Whisper White CS. I wasn’t sure how to decorate the inside and decided to take two one inch strips of the pink forest design DSP and adhere on either side of the top layer.
Apart from my snowflakes looking so pink in the photographs, I’m very pleased how this card turned out! That’s it from me today. I look forward to being back with you tomorrow and in the meantime please take care and stay safe. Happy crafting.
JanB. xx
