Hello, Crafters.
Hubby and I had a lovely drive down to Southampton yesterday to check out a car he’s hoping to buy. As he is now working from home permanently his company car is being taken away from him which is fair enough. Although I have a car, we still need another one because mine isn’t suitable if we need to go shopping or we have passengers – mine’s an MX5 sports car and I don’t want to get rid of it! Yesterday’s journey was a one hundred and eighty-two-mile round trip and we arrived home just as the heavens opened!
The Magenta Madness card you see here is one of the Thank You cards I made for my September online customers. The lacy die is from the Fabulous Floral Dies which is available in the Annual catalogue as a bundle with the matching All Things Fabulous Stamp Set (see page 121). The Designer Series Paper (DSP) is from In Good Taste. I always use our Notecards & Envelopes when I’m making Thank You cards to use but I use an A6 card when making one for my blog – it gives me more space for designing.
I was exceptionally pleased with my September customer card and had one standing on my desk which I kept looking at wondering if I could step it up! Apart from changing the colour, I stayed with the basic design and the DSP which kept me quite restricted in what I was able to do as far as stepping up was concerned. I decided if I used a smaller sentiment, I’d have three centres I could add flowers to. My idea was to stamp and punch out some flowers using the Small Bloom Punch but the flowers turned out too big!
I looked through my dies and found the small flower dies in the Flowering Dies which are also available in the Annual catalogue as a bundle with the Flowering Blooms Stamp Set (see page 70). Because I was going to be using flowers, I chose Old Olive as my colour for the lacy die-cut strip. Next, I wanted a colour for my flowers and after trying Blushing, Bride, Gorgeous Grape and Rich Razzleberry, I gave up and went for Whisper White. Once my card was finished, I wished I’d stuck with a colour!
Each of the centre flowers is made up of two large and two small die-cuts, and the three larger flowers around the edge are made up of two large flowers. Inside the card is a flower made up of two large and two small flowers but no Rhinestones. I chose the THANK YOU sentiment from the Special Someone Stamp Set and stamped it on a scrap of Whisper White Cardstock, which I then punched out using the Classic Label Punch. I’m happy with my finished card although it is somewhat over the top for a thank you card – coloured flowers would have toned it down nicely!
Today is my “day off” which is going to be quite a challenge for me! If I manage to stay away, I’ll look forward to being back with you on Thursday! In the meantime, please take care and stay safe. Happy crafting.

Oh Jan I do love that card. Will have to put that stamp set and die on my wish list as I have just purchased the poinsetta bundle togheter with the Playful Pets bundle – went out on a limb and spent madly. Lovely card as always and I will have to put my head into thinking mode to see if I can replicate it with another centrepiece. XXX M P.S. Love your car but with so many pets, I need a “normal” car – Toyota Corolla for me and the kids. hahaha. Want a small SUV but they are horrendously expensive to insure. Heard that there are some small fires in the Blue Mountains too. XX
Many thanks, Mal. If only we could just buy everything, eh?? My car is my “folly”! It fulfilled four ambitions in one go! It’s eleven years old now and the mileage is so, so low! It spends so much time in our garage but it was such a great run down to Southampton yesterday! Thanks about the Blue Mountains update! xx
Lovely card Jan,
Enjoy your day off xx
Best wishes Kay
Many thanks, Kay. xx
