Hello, Crafters.
On Monday we had our new fencing panels delivered and yesterday our builder-cum-gardener started erecting the new garden fence, i.e. concreting the posts into the ground, etc. I didn’t think he’d get much done because there was a fine drizzle in the air but Bob persevered until the rain was coming down so heavily it was totally impractical for him to continue. He said if the weather had been better he could have done the whole fence from the top of the garden right down to the end in a day! Fortunately, he only lives a few doors away from us so he was able to go home quickly and get out of his clothes which must have been soaking!
Yesterday I decided to give sketches a rest and made another Christmas card using my favourite design from the Most Wonderful Time Product Medley Designer Series Paper (DSP). There is a refill for this product medley which consists of all the paper products and the stars. If you go for the refill rather than the whole bundle, the products you don’t get are the stamp set, the dies and the roll of tinsel trim.
For my middle layers and the sentiment layer, I used some of our Brushed Metallic Cardstock (CS) (153524 page 45, Mini Christmas Catalogue). I chose the THINKING OF YOU AT CHRISTMAS sentiment which is from the Itty Bitty Christmas Stamp Set. After stamping it using my Stamparatus and Old Olive Ink, I decided to die-cut it using the one of the fancy frame dies in the Hippo & Friends Dies (153585). These dies are available as a bundle with the Hippo Happiness Stamp Set which I didn’t buy – I just wanted the fancy frame dies! When I went to set the sentiment up in the die, I turned it at an angle to see what it would like and I liked what I saw! Next, I took another piece of the Brushed Metallic CS and the first and second dies so I could get a line of stitching on the inside and the outside of the metallic cardstock. After adhering the Whisper White CS sentiment in the centre of the Brushed Metallic CS, I added Dimensionals on the back strategically placed to hold the centrepiece in place. Before I added it to the centre of my card, I adhered three one-eighth of an inch thin strips across the centre. To finish off the front of the card I added two peel-offs from the Product Medley and some Cherry Cobbler Rhinestones from the Holiday Rhinestones.
Inside the card, I added a middle layer of Brushed Metallic CS and a top layer of Pear Pizzazz CS. I thought white would be too bright and Real Red might be difficult to write on. To finish off I added two more peel-offs one in each bottom corner. This is another of my cards that hubby says looks very Oriental.
Do you remember yesterday’s card which I’d made using the Poinsettias Place DSP with a fair-sized rectangle made using the Soft Suede fir cone DSP? I felt the rectangle was lacking something and yesterday I did something about it! I added a die-cut PEACE using Very Vanilla and Soft Suede CS. I think it has finished my card off beautifully! What do you think?
That’s it from me today. I look forward to being back with you on Friday and in the meantime, take care and stay safe. Happy crafting.
JanB. xx

I really like the addition to yesterday’s card.
Many thanks, Lisa. I kept looking at the Soft Suede rectangle and my card looked incomplete. If I’d thought about PEACE sooner I don’t think I would have added SEASON’S GREETINGS! xx
Yesterday’s card Jan did look incomplete but now, just with a simple word addition, it looks elegant. Am liking today’s card also especially the frames. Be safe Jan and Othman as the news is telling us the UK has spiked horrendously with covid number again. XX M
Many thanks, Mal. Yes, we have a serious Covid spike and I think the government will have to announce another lockdown! I hope so, anyway! xx
