Hello, Crafters.
On Wednesday, I shared my first sketch card and explained I’d never made one before and didn’t know what the “rules” were. In the afternoon I was amazed to find a video which had been made by a crafter explaining all about sketches. If that wasn’t amazing enough, the (non-Stampin’ Up!) crafter Kristie Marcotte had posted the video just two days earlier! She uses sketches from several different companies including Freshly Made Sketches which is the company whose sketch I had followed. What amazing coincidences!
Yesterday evening while I was tidying up after making Sunday’s video, my laptop was on and one of Kristie’s videos came on. I allowed it to run while I carried on tidying up and I caught a glimpse of the sketch she was working on and it really clicked with me! When I was able to start crafting again, I decided to follow that sketch and today’s card is the result. I have thoroughly enjoyed making my two sketch cards but I have to say I don’t think they are as easy as I had always imagined them to be! Maybe once I have made a few of them, like most things in life, they will get easier!
The Designer Series Paper (DSP) I used for today’s card is called Wonderful Time and is part of the Wonderful Time Product Medley. The main design on my card is my favourite design in this pack of DSP and it worked brilliantly for my sketch. After I added it to a layer of Old Olive Cardstock (CS), I added a one-inch wide strip of the Old Olive design with white stars DSP which I had adhered to a slightly wider strip of Old Olive CS. Once I had adhered it about one and a quarter inches up from the bottom, I took some gold cord (Forever Greenery Trim Combo Pack – 152475) and wrapped it around the layer three times. After adhering it down with some Tear & Tape I adhered the layers to a Whisper White CS card base.
Next Tuesday, 3rd November we have a special promotion starting called Curvy Celebrations and one of the products which will be available is the Curvy Christmas Stamp Set. When I received the Curvy Celebrations bundle on Tuesday I had noticed the MERRY CHRISTMAS sentiment and decided to use it for today’s card. After I stamped it on a piece of Whisper White CS I die-cut it using the Stitched Shapes no. 2 circle die and layered it onto an Olive Green punched starburst circle. The punch is retired but the circle was in with my scraps so I decided to use it!
I added two holly stickers from the Product Medley onto the sentiment and then adhered it onto the card front using Dimensionals. I added one Real Red CS and one Old Olive CS banners in the top right-hand corner and decorated them with some Gold Metallic Pearls. I also added three to the sentiment. Inside the card, I added a middle layer of Old Olive CS and a top layer of Whisper White CS. I decorated the bottom right-hand corner using one of the bigger mistletoe stickers. I think I could get quite hooked on sketches!
That’s about it from me today. I look forward to being back with you tomorrow, and in the meantime please take care and stay safe. Happy crafting.
