Hello, Crafters.
Just by way of a change I have a little favour box today which has been made using the Little Treats Box Dies and decorated using the Little Treats Stamp Set. Both of these products are available as a bundle which saves 10% (155204 page 70 Mini catalogue). Originally I wasn’t going to buy this bundle because it has Halloween images and dies in it but I’ve seen so many great boxes and variations that I just couldn’t resist it! I’m pleased I gave in because I was pleased with the card I made yesterday and I’m very happy with today’s favour box! The finished size of the box is approxmately 3″ x 1 7/8″ x 7/8″.
These are the kind of boxes I like to see on the Christmas dinner table along with the Christmas crackers! The box has been designed so it is one piece and the sides clip into each other via the opposite side. Having said that once I had linked the sides together, I added some Tombow to make them stay together and therefore feel a bit more rigid. This really isn’t necessary; it was just a matter of choice for me. To decorate the outside – back and front – of the box, I chose the Real Red gingham design from the Toile Tidings Designer Series Paper (DSP) that has been brought forward from last year year.
I took two pieces of DSP that measured a bit over 2″ x 3 1/4″ and laid one piece under each end of the Little Treat Box Die. It would have been easier to use a non-directional pattern because I found that as I was able to get one end straight, it moved as I did the other end because my cutting mats are quite bowed! LOL! I persevered and without the need to reach for some PostIt Notes succeeded in getting both pieces cut straight! Next I used my Paper Snips to cut off the top lacy piece by cutting just under the stitched line. I had to shorten one piece very slightly and then adhered the two pieces to the front and back of my box.
I found some scraps of Very Vanilla Cardstock (CS) and using Real Red Ink, stamped the santa hat and the HO HO HO MERRY CHRISTMAS sentiment; both stamps are from the Little Treats Stamp Set. I die-cut the image, the sentiment and a Real Red CS circle using dies from the set and adhered them in position using Tombow. To tie the box closed, I used a strip of our Real Red Sheer Ribbon. My final touch was to paint the fur cuff and pom-pom on santa’s hat and the three O’s of Ho Ho Ho using my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen!
I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing something different from me today! I look forward to being back with you tomorrow with my Sunday video! In the meantime, have a super Saturday and please take care and stay safe. Happy crafting.
