Hello, Crafters.
This weekend sees the OnStage@Home Virtual gathering which is the annual event when Stampin’ Up! recognise demonstrators’ successes during the year ended 30th September 2020 You may remember I didn’t enjoy the same success in 2019 that I did in 2018 because I took my foot off the accelerator to arrange our wedding. I made up for lost time during the 2020 year and have won an award for Annual Sales, Annual Leadership and Annual Team Building!
Today’s card is another sketch using the Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper (DSP) and I wanted to show you something I learned from Kristie Marcotte but I didn’t do it very well so I’ll have to save it for another day! Grrr! Personally I get very confused if I’m shown how NOT to do something and then shown the correct way because when I come to try it myself, I sometimes struggle to remember which was the right way! I assume there must be other crafters who feel like me (I hope! LOL!) so I try and avoid doing!
The good thing about the OWH sketches is that they have measurements on them for the different sections. Unfortunately, it only helps crafters in North America because of the difference in our cardstock sizes! I will give you the sizes I used but please only use them as a guide and not as a rule. I started off with a regular card base in Mossy Meadow Cardstock (CS), a middle layer in Whisper White CS, and a top layer in Mossy Meadow CS. Inside the card I only added a middle layer of Whisper White CS. These are the other measurements:-
Gingham DSP layer 3 5/8″ x 5 1/4″ — Lighter Green DSP 1 7/8″ x 3 3/4″ layered onto Mossy Meadow CS 2″ x 3 3/4″ — Red DSP flag 7/8″ x 3 3/ 8″layered onto Mossy Meadow CS 1″ x 3 1/2″ — Whisper White CS for snowman image 2 1/8″ x 2 7/8″ layered onto Mossy Meadow CS 2 1/4″ x 3″.
I stamped the sentiment BLESSED CHRISTMAS WISHES, which is from the Itty Bitty Christmas Stamp Set using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. It has been die-cut using the no 1 slim die from the Stitched Rectangle dies. I also stamped the snowman using Memento Ink and coloured him using my Stampin’ Blends: hat and scarf dark Real Red and Old Olive; carrot nose dark Pumpkin Pie; small rocks Dark Crumb Cake, grounding light Crumb Cake and the edging around the snowman is light Pool Party. I finished him off by painting all-over using my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen.
I added some Adhesive-backed Snowflakes over the stamped snowflakes that were part of the snowman stamp and them a few more! There isn’t any decoration inside the card at the moment; I may stamp another image of the snowman. I hope you agree with me that using sketches has made my cards more interesting and more varied!
Don’t forget you can order the new global Joy to the World Paper Pumpkin Kit starting today. This kit will be available while stocks last! Also available now is the Curvy Celebration bundle which include two products for Christmas and extra products that are on early release for the Spring/Summer Catalogue. The dies from next year’s product match the Christmas stamp set in this bundle!
That’s it from me today. I look forward to being back with you tomorrow and in the meantime, please take care and stay safe! Happy crafting!

Aww, bless you, Pamela. Many thanks. xx
Morning Jan. Sorry for late response – a day late. CONGRATULATIONS on your amazing achievements and awards. Well done. You have earned these awards as you offer so much to so many people who can not purchase from you – including me. I am so happy for you. CONGRATULATIONS again. XX Mal
No worries, Mal. I hope everything is OK? Did your new family member arrive? Take care and stay safe. xx
Morning Jan. A little girl – arrived safely and is thriving. XX Mal
Hi, Mal. I hope the little one is settling in with her new (forever?) family. xx
Morning Jan Looks like she may stay with me for a long time as I am noticing she is very weak in her rear end so I will need to do a lot of physio work on her and get some great nutrition into her to build up her bone strength and muscle core. My Maddi (a border terrier – 10kg) loves her and I can see that Maddi would have made a grand Mother but she is a little on the anxious side so I had her desexed at a young age. Blessings to you all and stay strong during your enforced lock down. XX Mal
I wish her well and bless Maddi! xx
I have really enjoyed watching how you apply the card sketch ideas from Kristie Marcotte. I have been fascinated by her ideas. It has been very helpful to see someone apply them to Stampin Up products.
Hi, LeNora. I stumbled across Kristie on Pinterest (I think) and was absolutely fascinated. I’m not sure I could watch one of her full 6″ x 6″ pad videos from start to finish but I would love to be able to! It’s good to meet a fellow fan! xx
